Just another local joint

The place is reasonably priced, nothing fancy but good for casual meetings since it's conveniently located along the highway. Easily accessible by public means and private means. I used to love the food before but on several occasions my friends and I experienced abdominal discomfort after having... read more

Went there for lunch with some work mates and I have never been dissapointed! The food is fresh and the portions are large enough value for your money. The service is okay not too good neither bad!The ambiance is good and easy for a not so uptight place with good food. Thus is a good chill out joint that has a mature/adult... More

All self respecting Nairobi residents have a favorite nyama choma joint. Debates over which reigns supreme are very common, my favorite is Maxie, as my family affectionately calls it. Yes, it's a bit dingy and run down. Yes the bathrooms are atrocious (it is a choma joint after all). But other than that, it's wonderful. You can order in advance... More

This restaurant is near a large new office space, and the food was fine. I had the chicken and rice, with extra spice. While I've had better (the chicken was a bit dry), I've also paid more money at other locations. This is a local place, with many regional specialities. When I walked in, I could see some raw hearts... More

This review is a somewhat conflicted one. The food is really incredible and I imagine you'd be pleased if you told the waitress to just pick anything for you. However I forgot what I ordered pretty much every time I ordered. The service was really slow in fact saying the service is slow is the understatement of the century. The... More

I love nyama choma and always looking for a local non touristy spot in Nairobi to give it a go. Went to Max Land the later part of March and it for sure fulfilled my expectations and tons of well cooked goat and also a side of roasted potatoes. The meat was excellent and could not finish it all. And... More

In Kenya barbecued goat meat is the national dish, so you can find it almost everywhere. There are, though, not many places that provide you the relaxed local atmosphere of the Choma kiosks with good clean environment and decent service. Max land is one of these. The menu is very traditional: barbecued chicken, goat, or beef with ugali, potatoes or... More

Most likely the best nyama choma in town. Sit with the locals, have a cold tusker or two, enjoy the expertly grilled goat served with ugali. Chicken and beef are great as well, but the goat is where its at. I love the chicken gizzards here. There is also a car wash and salon in the same premises, which adds... More

They only had chicken and goat when we went. The chicken pieces were very small - although well cooked - and chips soggy. Good salad, but everything very slow indeed, and why did we have loud tv coverage of a political committee hearing on? Not a good ambience unless that's your obsession, and there wasn't much sign of that around... More
