Description: The Aero Club of East Africa was founded in 1927 by the aviation pioneers...
The Aero Club of East Africa was founded in 1927 by the aviation pioneers who opened up the frontiers of Africa. It still retains that 1930s romantic charm and historical ambience. The club is the only restaurant at Wilson Airport, four km from Nairobi’s central business district on the Langata Road. It is on the edge of the Athi Plains, with easy access to the Nairobi National Park and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The restaurant has inside dining, a large eating deck and tables in the garden and by the swimming pool. It overlooks Wilson’s 007 runway and is an ideal spot to spend the hours before you leave on safari or to unwind on your return and watch planes and helicopters land and take off while soaking up the atmosphere in this legendary piece of Kenya’s aviation history. Chef Neil McCarthy and the Creative Kitchen Co. team moved into the restaurant at the Aero Club of East Africa on 1st October 2011. Neil has cooked and consulted all over the world, from London’s Mayfair Hotel and the Moscow Metropole to California’s vineyards and top-range hotels across Africa, including the Mt. Kenya Safari Club and Nairobi’s Tribe hotel. He is famous for his tasty gourmet burgers and dry-rub spicy BBQ ribs. He creates tasty international buffets and a la carte specialties. Sinful puddings include his New York style, melt in your mouth, baked cheese cake and home baked apple pie. He serves mouthwatering and seriously satisfying food.

A world away from the buzz of Nairobi

The aero club feels like a hidden spot (next to Wilson airport) and a bit of a world away from the rest of Nairobi. A somewhat bubble but a great place to spend time in during the day. The surrounding is green and there is both an indoor and outdoor area. Known for it's food, it has a variety... read more

Was taken here recently by a friend on a visit to Nairobi having landed back at Wilson airport from the Mara. It was an excellent spot to watch the planes coming in and out along with tasty, casual food and cold beer. Warm sunshine was also welcome. Would definitely return

I had lunch here every day during my visit and was not disappointed once. The fresh fruit-cocktail juice is a sure winner.

Convenient oasis for stopover, so you don't have to face the Langata road traffic and miss your connection. Lovely wood worn smooth by the sleeves of pilots and passengers over many years. Also relative calm (broken by buzzing helicopters landing nearby), food, drink and wifi.

Wow! I have never seen so many interesting burger names and burger combinations on one menu. If you cannot find a burger you like on this menu - you are most definitely a seriously fussy eater! They also serve an array of other dishes that look equally delicious, but living on the South Coast of Kenya where you seldom find... More

For travelers flying in and out of Wilson Airport, and with time for a snack or lunch even, the Aero Club of East Africa is oozing aviation history. A gallery of pictures, old propellers and other aviation paraphernalia give the place the sort of feel which, combined with a whiff of aviation fuel makes for priceless memories. Food is reasonably... More

I frequent the aero club and I must they make the best burgers in Kenya. The vegetarian (Amref) burger is delicious and so are the chicken and beef burgers. If you like the African Samosas then it's the best place to sample some. It's a good place for a business lunch or as you wait for your flight.

The food at Aero Club was pretty good compared to other eating venues in Nairobi. The only thing is the service. It takes almost an hour to get anyone to serve you. The food 9/10. Service 3/10.

Every time I'm in Nairobi this is my lunch spot. The food is amazing and being in aviation the views of the planes taking off and landing is great! So much history in the club house as well. You can tell this is where good friends meet and where deals are made over lunch. I love the menu with meal... More

We were quite happy to discover the Aero Club's restaurant the first time quite by chance. We we planning to go somewhere else, which turned out to be closed, and by looking on the net we came across on the Aero Club. We headed over there, and were happily surprised by this little place tucked away on the side of... More
