Shopping Mall

Its basically an average shopping mall. There are better ones such as Junction which is not too far from Yaya Centre. The food court here is not very good at all.

a fairly above average mall for the area. Has some great food spots, a few nice stores- not my absolute favorite, but not bad at all. possibly the best selection of shops that you might actually buy something in, in town. mid priced overall and some very useful stores, like hardware and bookstore...not o-lala, more practicle

There aren't many microbreweries in Africa and this one was lovely. Good beer, nice ambiance and good food. Expensive by African standard but fine if you're on holiday. It's tucked away in a shoppping centre and part of the uptown area in Nairobi - I recommend the Amber beer and the Nile Perch.

Ya ya has the best bookshop in Nairobi, BOOKSTOP. I like it because the shops are small and its more village like, easier to get around.

After bartering at local markets, it is a retreat to explore the shops in the Yaya Centre. A good selection of shops but don't expect rock bottom prices. It is targeted at westerners.

Yaya Apartments are very expensive. I think the owners of the apartments have forgotten they are in East Africa and not New York. The walls, floor, ceilings are paper thin. You hear everything, even your neighbors TV. We heard the footsteps of the couple above for two months. Started at 6am until 1am. There is a French school next door... More

Sierra Brasserie is next to the Food Court on the third level of Yaya Centre. There is a bar area on this level, with stairs leading up to the main dining room as well as to the outdoor dining terrace. The food here is creative and beautifully prepared, with well-aged steaks and delicious sauces. There is a thoughtfully chosen wine... More

Yaya is one of Nairobi's oldest malls and for a while became very run down. But it has undergone something of a renaissance while remaining slightly more quirky than the new ghastly, shiny, Nakumat dominated malls that blight Nairobi. Alexandre is a nice coffee place on the ground floor with phenomenal chocolate cake. Small hardware shops stock a strange mix... More
