A True Kenyan Classic

The Tamarind has recently moved to its new location in Karen but has lost none of what makes it the best restaurant in Nairobi. The menu is still packed the the best and freshest seafood, the service is impeccable and the new ambience is peaceful and charming. Truly a Kenyan classic!

After another meal during a special friend's birthday, I'm still raving about the meal. Oysters, asparagus and mushroom soup, quail and prawns masala - all dishes were perfectly prepared. The setting was romantic and beffiting for the occasion.

Didn't make it down to the coast this trip sadly because I love the Tamarind in Mombasa. So what to do, hadn't been to the Nairobi Tamarind for years and since this new one had opened I thought I should give it a go. There was nothing to complain about at all. Went for dinner after a long day out... More

We ate here on our last evening in Kenya before leaving for the airport. The restaurant is not cheap but the food is excellent and we were able to eat outside on the terrace overlooking the surrounding gardens. We focused on seafood, including the tiny but very tasty wild oysters, and all the dishes were both delicious and well presented.... More

Visited recently for the first time, fantastic service, food and ambience. The Crab Claws are a must to try when on the menu. All food was extremely fresh, well presented and portions were generous. I'd recommend booking a table in advance and leaving plenty of time to fight your way through the Nairobi traffic to this fine establishment.

The choice of seafood and fish was most impressive and all the food was well presented . Its out of the town centre in... More

Nice ambiance, decent cuisine and good service. At times they seem under staffed on weekends when it is busy of course. We've always enjoyed ourselves. It's a shame about this rainy time of the year though.

I went to the Tamarind a few weeks back with a few of my friends who are all in the hotel business. we were all blown away with the flavor and presentation, the staff definitely focus on absolute customer satisfaction. By far the best restaurant in Nairobi. I would recommend the Siamese prawns and the Seafood Risotto.

If you wanna impress your girl ..this is it! Every dish we have had has been beautifully flavored and presentation is beautifully done. Only restaurant in the city that serves steamed crab the right way. •Make sure they know in advance you are going for an occasion..they will make dessert extra special•
