The chicken dishes were very tough and the ugali was well ugali. One person had the goats intestines and found them to be enjoyable. The chicken however was a real chore to chew. Hey-atmosphere was great, the bee cold but the food-well maybe we were there on an off night.

The restaurant is conveniently located in the city center and serves the most delicious chicken wings in town. Other local foods are also available at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

The place is very central and offers local food. It is possible to sit outside. There is music almost every day, not bad at all, but maybe a bit too loud. The interior is a combination od students canteen and betting house, not much of a decor, with simple tables and chairs and tv screens with football all around (I... More

of course there is a wide range of choice in nairobi, and ranalo is possibly a sincerely genuine and original place. Not so easy down town. Local food in mid-buffet mode. You can assemble your dish and bring to your table. Music most of the days. Fish, meat and a good choice of vegetables, freshly cooked. A very nice option... More

This restaurant was recommended by local people as a good one to feel African atmosphere and food. Beneficiaries: 1-Life music 2-Friendly African atmosphere 3-Suitable prices 4-Good quality of food 5-Located in city center 6-Polite stuff Defects: 2-Somehow very crowded 2-Low quality of service 3-Low diversity of meals Notes: 1- Wait until you can get a table in Balcony 2- Do... We had read a very flattering review of this place in the Guide du Routard but it turned out to offer mediocre food, with very very limited choice, at fairly high prices. I would not recommend it.

Almost all the dishes are simply stewed or fried meat, which were served with chapatis. I was disappointed that there weren't more non-meat Kenyan dishes available. The meat is very tough but tastes good. The chapatis were tasty. You can also get cokes, water etc. A very helpful employees showed us how it all worked.

I always like to visit here at least once on my journey to experience real local food for local people. Don't expect anything upper class here. You go to look at the food first on the buffet style counter. You then go to pay the window and give the slips of paper to the waiter who brings it. The reviewer... More
