It is rare to find a place where most customers walk out 100% happy, but Talisman has managed to accomplish this feat. It is a restaurant of excellent quality and service - not just for Africa/Kenya standards but also by international standard. I've been to Talisman on several occasions - Sunday brunches with a large group, quiet dinner for two,... More

Down the road from the Kibera slums in the affluent suburb of Karen is this restaurant. We had lunch there on our transit out of Nairobi and the food is fantastic. It was filled with expats ( good or bad thing I'll let you decide). We had the fish and chips, swordfish and burger. All were generous servings of high... More

We visited The Talisman on a Saturday lunchtime in August, arriving without a reservation. We were able to get a table in the garden area. The menu is good and there was also a Specials menu for both food and drinks. The service was very good and attentive. I had the swordfish (on the specials menu) which was outstanding. My... More

We are so glad you enjoyed your visit and all the touches we love to give our guests (can't beat blankets on a chilly Nairobi day!). We'd love to see you here any time you're in the area, and bring the children, too. Thanks for the kind words! More

We visited this gem of a restaurant on Sunday and were really pleased we made the 45minute drive our of nairobi. The owner/head chef is friendly and circulates round the restaurant chatting to his guests and recommending dishes. The waiters are polite and the service was quick and seamless. The food itself is fresh and really tasty. We will definitely... More

I typically like to go to Talisman with my wife or just by myself to do some work (wifi is fast!). But recently we decided to take the whole family for tea time. The weather had been particularly dreary and the kids were going stir crazy. We arrived in the afternoon hours between lunch and dinner, so the place was... More

We were staying in Langata, Nairobi, so this wasn't very far at all from us, being in Karen, we got a taxi and I think it only took about 15mins. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly, and offered solutions to any dietary requirements we had. We had a lovely dinner, and felt it was fairly reasonably priced.

We eat and beverage at Talisman at least twice a week. Been doing so for years. Consistently the best in the country. Always like to walk into a place where all the staff know your name.

Having been to Talisman 3 or 4 times over the last couple of years, it is a MUST if you are going to be in or around Nairobi. It is located in idyllic Karen, an affluent suburb of Nairobi city. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but it is worth the exploration. The food is absolutely phenomenal... More

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this lovely review of our food and atmosphere. We apologize for the slow service. Right now we are in the midst of building a new kitchen, and that has slowed things down a bit as a result. We hope to speed things up and get humming when we've got more... More

Visited twice in the space of 3 weeks. First visit was outstanding, second not so good with a very strange piece of steak being served, which the Head Waiter acknowledged as being unnacceptable. Offered a replacement meal but we decided to take up the free dessert offer. Will return.

A sub-par steak is highly unusual here at Talisman--we pride ourselves on amazing beef! So glad you were willing to mention this to your waiter (and hope you enjoyed the dessert!). Come try us again. We'd love to serve you any time! More

There are two restaurants south of the Sahara and North of Cape Town for which I'd drive 40 km. One is 96 Winery Road in Stellenbosch; the other is the Talisman in Karen. Food, ambiance, staff all excellent. I've been surprised by one or two negative reviews since I last commented, so I've been there several times with family or... More
