The best ambience in Nairobi, relaxed outdoor and indoor areas for dining. Ate here during Thai Week and the winning dish was the duck curry; a quarter duck served on the bone with a rich and spicy red Thai sauce, ginger, lemongrass and pineapple. As a regular visitor to the Talisman I've realised it's easy to become complacent when faced... More

We've eaten here twice now & both times enjoyed delicious, freshly cooked and creative meals. The wasabi hollondaise is an inspired idea. The smoked trout chowder was thick and tasty. Both the porcini & smoked salmon tartlets were divine! The chef is not only incredibly talented but also very friendly and accommodating. I strongly recommend a visit!

This will be a restaurant you daydream about. The interior and exterior are seamlessly united and fireplaces and braziers are in every corner lending an unpretentious cozy yet open feeling. The tables are outfitted with oil and vinegar sets, salt and pepper containers and flower vases all from Kitengela glass. The wine and liquor list appear complete and the food... More

Visited Talisman with the family after an unusual month-long gap since our last visit. The food was super - it was just like really good home cooking. Combine this with the rustic atmosphere and you have a place that you can keep on coming back to. My only complaint this time is that the service was poor (compared to my... More

Thanks for the kind words about our atmosphere and menu. We're proud of both and hope to see you back again soon to enjoy them. We've hired several new staff team members and are in the midst of training for all, so we apologize for the slow service. We're working to improve that and appreciate the feedback. More

The Talisman is simply sumptuous. A beautiful restaurant in Karen, decorated in a mixture of African and Middle Eastern designs. Lovely garden where the kids can play. The service is great and the food is delicious. Try the samosas with coriander and feta, just to die for. The place is also calm and serene, a great place to spend Sunday... More

Was in Nairobi for work and visiting the Talisman for dinner was a fantastic night out. The food was absolutely delicious - that Thai Red Chicken Curry was amazing!!!! Nice wine selection and great vibe and atmosphere.... if you are staying in central Nairobi it is a bit of a drive (especially taking Nairobi traffic into account) but it is... More

I have been twice to the Taslisman and have always enjoyed being there in good company. Choice of food is good and quite original from Asian to European. Well cooked and tasted. I tend to eat vegetarian when I am at the Talisman. I especially like the atmosphere in general. Relaxing and comfortable with some fresh air. It's a bit... More

Thanks for the kind words, and we're delighted you enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Chef Marcus is very proud of his vegetarian offerings, especially now that Talisman has its own organic garden. We look forward to seeing you again the next time you're in town! More

this was our 2nd visit at Talisman since its re-opening. Ambience is just beautiful, first course- feta samosas- were breathtaking... Main courses rather disappointing. Staff very friendly but sorry to say... incompetent all through. It started with wrong price information on wines, upon our request for red wine we were offered savignon blanc... we ordered 2cold beer but got warm... More

It was another disappointing trip to Talisman, we thought that because of the refurbishments and it recently opening to the public again, we would try it out again. It was a Wednesday lunch, pre-booked table for our family of 8 who were celebrating our father's birthday. We arrived early and there was only one other table with clients sitting down.... More

We're sorry to hear that your party booking didn't come off as expected, but we'd like to offer a few observations to help you plan bookings in future: 1. Talisman is not a fast food restaurant, and this is doubly true when you book a large group (6 or more). Because we serve everyone at the table at the same... More

This is what Talisman clams quoting one of newspapers' reviews. I agree, it is one of the top restaurants in Nairobi but it is debatable if it is truly number one. The ambiance is great and my wife claims that recent renovation made it look much better. I couldn't see much of a difference. That's probably gender driven ;-) After... More

Thank you for taking the time to post these constructive criticisms. We were #1 in Nairobi on TripAdvisor until they broke Nairobi down into neighborhoods (which now places us #1 in Karen), and Chef Marcus was named Heineken Chef of the Year in this year's Taste Awards, so we're working hard to maintain that status but also grow better over...
