We visited last night and although there was a power cut the lights returned as the owner returned to switch on the generator! We had three courses, fresh prawn cocktail and homemade spinach soup, followed by Salmon Fishcakes with veg and mash potato and a delicious homemade mince beef and onion pie with proper chips , gravy and vegtables, lemon... You don’t have to worry about power cuts now as this restaurant has a generator that will keep the lights on and fans running. We spent 225LE last night for a meal for two, chosen from a very full & varied menu, which was:- A shared mezze appetiser, with a very fresh soft Egyptian flat bread, Peanut & Parmesan Chicken,... Our last day in Luxor and we wanted something without the hassle but good Egyptian food. We we enjoyed the sea bass & tangier mutton with good portions. Hummus & pita is a small complementary starter & also tried the fried eggplant w chutney. Fresh, hot and everything had great flavor. We ended a great meal with freshly made lemon... More

On my first visit to Luxor, attended this restaurant with friends. Even with the current lack of tourists, this place was still busy. Very friendly and welcoming owner. I had an amazing chicken kebab starter, followed by a beef tagine which is one of the best meals I have eaten anywhere

The best food we had in Luxor. Previous review mentioned having to eat by candlelight because of blackout but when we were there they were testing a new generator so that is probably not a problem anymore. Food and service was excellent.

Went to the Lantern last night. As always I receivved a friendly greeting from Debbie and Mahmoud. Debbie is now serving a free appetiser - a welcome start the meal, The Chicken Liver Pate was absolutely delicious and I followed it with a pan fried sea bass with seasonal salad - great tastes. Of course Debbi's Lemon Meringue was to... More
