Now this IS a restaurant!

If you want a good meal, pleasant staff and elegant decor then this is the place to come in Luxor. It's a bit out of the way for me, as my hotel is away from this area but it's well worth the trip. Quality food at great prices. Tempora prawns and aubergines were straight from the fryer and were crisp and hot and tasty. Lamb tagine and spicy meatballs were superb. Sadly we hadn't time for another visit as this food was really genuine and tasty.

i really don't know what I can add to what I have already said in previous reviews. The food and service just continues to get better. Between Debbie, Nassau and Mamoud, they provide evening after evening of wonderful attention to detail in the way the excellent food is cooked and served. I and four friends so much enjoyed our meals... More

Myself and my husband visited for the first time, and both really enjoyed it. The décor is very nice, and I was really pleased with how clean everything was. Hubby had steak and chips, I had the chicken shish with Egyptian salad and tahini dressing. Both dishes were delicious, the steak was medium, exactly as requested, and our visit was... More

Opulent interior with a large range of food to suit anyone tastes. Extremely busy. Poor Debbie was run of her feet trying to do everything! We would have given 5 stars but the Waiter spoilt it with his appalling service...he was so laid back he was almost asleep. We asked him repeatedly for drinks, dessert menu and the bill and... More

This Restaurant dishes up really good quality food. It may be a more expensive than most others but it is worth it. What really lets the place down is the tall young waiter who thinks he is 'God's Gift' His method of waiting is like something out of 'Faulty Towers' Like we should be grateful if he manages to bring... We wouldn't normally go to a restaurant out of the country where the figurehead is an English person but here having Debbie as an excellent hostess and Nasser who is an amazing chef is a combination that really works. We visited on a couple of occasions and ate a variety of dishes. I really enjoyed the tagines and my daughter... More

Thankyou Debbie and Nasser for feeding us so well, you spoilt us rotten this last 2 weeks . The Lantern is the best restaurant in Luxor and the choice of foods is fantastic. We feel as if we are friends now . Nothing is too much trouble for Debbie and we always gave a good chat and a laugh .... More

The food here is always brilliant. We have eaten here on numerous occasions and nothing is too much trouble. Can highly recommend the minced steak and onion pie, the chicken Kiev, fish and chips, peanut and Parmesan crusted chicken ......... In fact everything! Standards are consistently high.

No one in all of Egypt cooks lamb to perfection as the Lantern. Lamb is the main meat eaten in my family, and Debbie's and Naser's Lamb Shanks tasted exactly like when I or my family prepared it. I give my father the credit for his receipe.(How did they get it?) I didn't need to cut the lamb, it fell... More
