(even with the current power cuts, a generator is now in place). Its had a smart new make over since we were last... More

The best food we had in Luxor. Previous review mentioned having to eat by candlelight because of blackout but when we were there they were testing a new generator so that is probably not a problem anymore. Food and service was excellent.

Went to the Lantern last night. As always I receivved a friendly greeting from Debbie and Mahmoud. Debbie is now serving a free appetiser - a welcome start the meal, The Chicken Liver Pate was absolutely delicious and I followed it with a pan fried sea bass with seasonal salad - great tastes. Of course Debbi's Lemon Meringue was to... More

My friend and I ate here once during our stay in Luxor. We both ate delicious tagines and the service was very prompt and good. However, it felt like we were eating Egyptian food in a restaurant back in the UK. I can see that for some people this wouldn't be a negative but my friend and I really wanted... More

I think the effect of the rise in "All-inclusive" deals in the Luxor hotels was most evident here in The Lantern - the normally busy room was virtually empty with just three other people dining whilst we were there. A power cut meant that we ate our dessert by candle light, sweating gently as the temperature rose. The street was... More

This is and as always been the best restaurant in Luxor. The owners Debbie and Nasser have a very extensive and varied menu to suit everyone's tastes. If you for some reason cant find what you want from the menu just ask and Debbie will do her best to make it for you.. We were in Luxor for six weeks... More
