The Lantern Restaurant may be difficult to find, but remains one of the best in Luxor. the welcome, service and quality of food continues to be outstanding and, while not cheap by Egyptian standards, is great value. The many regulars that eat there each evening are testimony to the quality of their cuisine! It has just been totally refurbished by... more

Still the best in Luxor in my opinion. Steaks and sauces unbeatable and don't forget to order onion rings with it. Any problems with your meal, just tell Debbie and it will be sorted. Do explore the menu, the curry is excellent, carribean bean excellent and try the sweets. Despite being a bit more expensive than the competition, from what... more

Didn't like the atmosphere, felt like we'd interupted an ex pats get together. Not keen on the food either, over priced and the one tiny cauliflower floret and 2 carrot batons were cooked to within an inch of their life! The pie pastry was soggy and the chicken tough. We didn't stay for dessert! more

We had fillet steak for main course mine was great but my husbands and mother in laws was chewy which was a shame. The meals were presented beautifully. Depite the tough steaks which were probably... more

I have visited luxor many times and started to frequent "The Lantern" in the previous premises. I have always found Debbie a most congenial hostess and a wonderfull soup and pie maker. Nasser is an excellent chef and demands high standards from himself and staff. Debbie and Nasser will openly admit that the quality of steak can differ from one... more

We visited in early November 09. Upon arrival we had to wait for a sofa but that was ok as they have a sofa at the back and we got a couple of drinks. The manager is lovely and makes you feel really welcome and special. I had a chicken dish with home made chips and salad, my partner had... more

Almost 60 years young and have NEVER tasty such a wonderful home-cooked pie. Debbie is a fantastic host, her staff are so smart and courteous. Husband had a huge piece of fish (Sea Bass) with best ever chips and mushy peas followed by Lemon Meringue and I had the pie - fresh out of the oven followed by home-made bakewell... more
