My wife and I stopped in for dinner one night and tried hummus (decent), two Egyptian dishes for entrees (both were good, but nothing spectacular), and two desserts. The highlights of the meal were the desserts - homemade apple pie and chocolate cake. Oasis is worth a stop by - just save room for dessert!

As most travelers to Egypt know, most everyone in tourist oriented places are looking to rip you off one way or another. Don't get ripped off going to another restaurant in Luxor. Escape to Oasis Cafe, for a blissful escape from the hassle and poor service of any other place. If your lucky enough to talk to the owner, it's... More

Some call it magic, others think it's evolution. Anyway, since two days, there is a very interesting phenomenon in Saint Joseph street: between four and five p.m. the well known Oasis café transforms itself in a nice Thai restaurant. So you don't need anymore to go to the Fortune Cookie for its Tai cuisine part: the sign "The King and... More

I stopped in here while walking around Luxor, and it was a great reprieve from the busy streets and hundreds of catcalls/people trying to get my attention. Very clean and quiet, and the propieter is very friendly. He's spent lots of time in the US and tries to run the place like a US cafe, which can be a welcome... More

This oasis was just round the corner from our hotel and we'd seen it recommended in the Lonely Planet. We were in Luxor during Ramadan so only ate here in the evenings. The food was great - kebabs, tagine etc were very tasty. The surroundings were very unusual - colonial and comfortable. Separate rooms for smoking and non smoking, welcome... More

this is also a first class cafe, and the omlette made with fetta cheese & walnuts is out of this world

The name says it all. A tranquil place to relax with a cool iced tea and some tasty light food. Perfect of an afternoon, with a big pile of magazines to leaf through while relaxing.

The food is simple but very good (omelettes, salads, sandwiches), but the relaxed ambience is a haven in the hot, dusty streets of Luxor. Mismatched colonial furniture, soft music (jazz, classical), old tattered issues of teh New Yorker and anything else you might want to read, and a tall glass of Stella (the Egyptian beer, not the French). Peace.

Tasty food that was well presented - i especially liked the chicken kabab with Egyptian rice. Staff were friendly and patient - my sister is a fussy eater! Better still the owner David is a great conversationalist if he's there when you visit - find out what's going in socially and economically in Egypt.
