As an Egyptian, I always wondered why almost no Restaurants in Cairo offer the the large variety of Foods we cook at home and enjoy at the Houses of friends and relatives, until Abou El Sid opened in Maadi a few years ago. I revisited this Restaurant recently and found it to be still the best place to sample our Home... More

I've eaten at Abou el Sid several times and the food and service are consistently good. They have a great selection of Egyptian dishes which include meat. If you know the culture you will know that meat is not the go to for most meals because of the cost. There is beautiful sheltered outdoor seating and indoors is plush and... More

As we approached a week long holiday on the last day of the work week, and because I was traveling during Ramadan, we didn't get to have a company Iftar, I decided to treat the staff to an Eid El Adha "feast." The Eids - both Eid El Fitr and Eid El Adha, are known in Egypt as the lesser... More

A good selection of Epytian dishes that seemed to attract as many locals smoking shisha and sharing a drink (always a good sign), as tourists and expats looking to try the local grub. The seafood tagine was good, though basically seafood with tomato sauce on rice. chicken liver "alexandria style" was liver with gravy, onions nad green peppers. All in... More

A great place to go,,, they serve really good food, all Egyptian, feels like home and your grandma made lunch for you. The decor is also making the atmosphere super cool with the old furniture, floor, even the tableaux are just beautiful. In Ramadan they serve great food for Suhour, and their shisha is really good, you gotta try it!

This restaurant is located in the Zamalek Island. The place is crowded so make sure to reserve in advance. We had really fresh Babagnoush and lemony Tahina for appetisers. (Note: They don't have hummus on the menu). Chicken with walnut sauce was delicious. Om Ali for dessert was recommended and very good. The portions are quite large. Dinner for three... More

The food on offer at Abou el Sid is delicious and traditionally authentic Egyptian. Great for Vegetarians and carnivores alike, they offer a selection of mezzes which is great if you are in a group of friends. You can dine al fresco or inside. They also offer Shisha after your meal with a variety of different flavours. The portions are... More
