Good food and local drinks

L'Aubergin has been known for quite some time now, they are one of the few place you can go out for a drink in Heliopolis. They serve good food and local drink from Egypt.

The usual problem with bars in Cairo: the cigarettes smoke compounded by very bad ventilation. I must admit upstairs is much better ventilated than downstairs, so always book a table upstairs. Atmosphere is ok, a bit on the cheap side. Food is good & has a good variety of appetizers. With not many bar choices in Cairo, l'Aubergine is OK.

First time been there but from the first step in and you are treated with lots of courtesy and smiley faces. Cosy atmosphere, quick service and delicious finger food "Mezzah"... Music nice not loud... and reasonable prices.

I visited the Zamalek restaurant L'Aubergine twice in one week, once by myself and once with friends. I had the same dishes each time. A delicious potato croquette (bomba) filled with smoked salmon for a starter 20 LE and the gnocchi with blue cheese sauce for main 40LE, both were delicious. A stella beer cost 30LE and there was a... More

We had two positive experiences at L'aubergine. The ravioli was tasty. The inside could get smoky, but we always ate early and the restaurant wasn't crowded. Service was good, although upstairs we weren't allowed to sit anywhere because all of the (empty) tables were reserved. Finally convinced the staff that we would only be an hour and were able to... let's start by saying this is a very unique restaurant. It's has the feeling of old Egypt. The first thing you notice as you walk in the grand front entrance is the smoke. Plan to wash your clothes the next day because you'll smell it on your clothes as soon as you wake up. By modern standards it's only worth... More

So my friend's sister was denied admittance to a place called l'Aubergine because she is veiled!!! A new form of segregation that I refuse... This place just got a personal vendetta with all my friends and family!!!
