Unique atmosphere and experience

I went to Abou El Sid by chance and it was a great and unique surprise. Old building with a very nice and high entrance door. the restaurant is not very big but such a nice place. Old style, very nice decoration, low lights and this unique atmosphere! You feel like you are in a 50's-60's movie and... read more

Excellent food, good seasoning and tasteful ingredients! Service is also good for egyptian standards, drinks are well served. Aubergines with vinegar and garlic are a delight, the sizes are very generous so careful with the orders! We absolutely recommend it!

An adequate experience - good food, shisha and alcohol but the waiters can be terrible, especially at busy times when locals are served and foreigners can be ignored. Fabulous setting - there has been a restaurant here since the 1920s. Avoid in the evenings after about 7.30 - its too busy and poseurish to be pleasant. Great as an oasis... More

I was solo traveling, but I went here anyway hoping to get a table. It was busy, but I only waited 10 minutes and then I was given a lovely table. The tables and chairs aren't conventional, so the table was at knee height and I kinda felt like I was eating at a coffee table. But the ambiance and... More

If you want to experience authentic Egyptian food and old school music, visit this restaurant. Food is delicious but on the high end of the price spectrum. Staff is ok although they seem a bit annoyed when the place is busy.

I went to Abou el-Sid on Jan 9th 2016 with family members. We were 14 persons and we all were very disappointed because the place was a complete miss. The dirt covers every corner of the place and the tables, chairs are very old and worn out. The food is very bad and not fresh, service is poor and delayed.... More

Abou el-sid is a well known restaurant in Zamalek area. they have a good selection of traditional egyptian and arabic food. especially with pigeon & rabbit dishes. The restaurant during peak hours and holidays is very busy hence the service is slow. Also they restaurant is on the expensive edge being speciality restaurant and the area it operates in, so... A typical Egyptian menu with great service is offered here. The decor is of old Cairo, and the lighting is nice and dim. A lot of foreigners and young Egyptians like to come here for a mezzo dinner and a cold beer. Out of the hustle and bustle of the Zamalek island one enters into this haven for either lunch... More

This is my favourite restaurant in Cairo. The food was delicious and really interesting design inside. Designed to get a bunch of small plates and share everything - going in a large group is fun because you sit at a round table where the middle of the table spins, making it easier to share.
