Recommended by tour operator and reservations made. Tour guide arranged to have us picked up after dinner at a specific time. After being seated for 20 minutes and table next to us who arrived after us were already getting help; we inquired who our waiter was and man said "I am" and walked away. Our appetizer finally arrived and the... More

We only had time for one dinner out in Cairo and an Egyptian colleague from Geneva recommended Abou el-Sid. We booked and arrived early to discover a place filled with atmosphere and intrigue. We sat near the bar which was quite fine. Our waiter was cool, calm and most attentive. Our meals - stuffed pigeon and the house lamb dish... More

on this month i had a friend coming over from abroad. On his to do list was to indulge Egyptian cuisine. The first thing that came to mind was Abu El-Sid and because he was staying in one of the hotels in Tahreer, we went to Zamalik's. On arrival, someone took our car to park it and we went into... The food was authentic Egyptian food at a very reasonable price. The food was very delicious and the staff was friendly and helpful. We did not have a reservation and thus had to sit at the bar. I would recommend this restaurant but make a reservation because it gets crowded!

This restaurant was recommended by both an Egyptian friend and our excellent tour guide. We really lucked out with this being a great find! While our guide said we didn’t need a reservation, I recommend getting one—we ended up sitting at the bar. The servers were friendly, the food was superb Egyptian cuisine, the lighting / setting was on point,... More

Abo el-sid is a traditional restaurant. we go there for lunch every now and then. The place is clean and food is good but somewhat expensive. The atmosphere is nice and suitable for families.

Stepping into the venue feels like time travelling to egypt in the beginning of the 20th century. Beautiful thousand and one night decorations. Food is tasty and authentic egyptian. But.... Service is very very slow. Needed to ask for plates and the check several times and waiters were not paying any attention to us. Such a shame. Big plus is... More

Dimly lit with the scent of Shisha pipes mingling with the aromas from the food. Even being shown to our table with a tap on the arm and a commanded "Come" fitted perfectly. The food and service did not disappoint and they even ensured we had a taxi for our ride back to the hotel
