To be honest, since there aren't that many similar restaurants in Cairo, it leaves Abou el Sid with a bit of an open field. The food is fine, service if fine, prices are a bit steep, and all together it's "fine".... But I don't dream of going there and don't lose any sleep if I didn't. But, if I was... More

It's become a tradition for my family and I to eat at at this restaurant on our regular twice per year visit to Cairo. Excellent service, always fresh and tasty food, & great old Cairo atmosphere. The best is the stuffed pigeon, the amazing traditional Egyptian starters, the Egyptian "baladi" salad, & the molokheyya with rabbit. Desserts are great too,... More

The decor and atmosphere in this restaurant is really lovely and really reminds you what a beautiful city you are in with a rich history. Unfortunately the food does not live up to the same standard. I ordered fattet djaj which was described as "Egyptian risotto" - the whole dish was extremely dry and tasteless, the chicken was totally dry.... More

Went with a group of friends and all apetizers were served cold including the arabic bread. The beef shrine was super spicy and when we complained the waiter said that is how it is! And left us behind. The chicken liver was very cold. We left most dishes and we ordered turkish coffee, it took so long and when we... More

Service is really deteriorating there, ... Is not anymore the great Abou el Sid! We had Iftar/dinner during first week of Ramadan, and service was very slow - took 45 minutes before food was served - despite having some fasting people on the table! Food arrived, with "average" quality, was mostly spicy which is not always adequate for Ramadan, cold/not... More

Great ambiance and real Egyptian food. The one at Citystars has a good accessable location. Staff will help you with the menu.

Being an Egyptian I could judge the slightest deterioration in taste. I also noticed the drop in service quality. It is a pity that they could not maintain the food & service quality. If it is your first time to taste Egyptian food you may give it a try because there are some menu items that worth trying.

if you like to eat a home made Egyptian food, in a historical atmosphere, I do recommend this restaurant. they also have Shesha (arjeela) and you can smoke inside the place. little bit expensive for Egyptians, but for Americans and European its like you eat in a moderate restaurant .average per person is 20-25 Euro Main course + Hot Appetizer...
