Great Food, Charming Atmosphere

Myself and 2 children ages 9 and 14 had an amazing dinner here. Farouz soda, tea, and stuffed Pidgeon - 3 pigeons were plenty of food plus bread! Great price!

El-Sid has a great and large menu of Egyptian food. I tried the spinach with rabbit meat and the pigeons. I've had better food elsewhere that specializes in those dishes, but for a high quality lunching experience El-Sid is one of the best i've seen. The main issue at this restaurant is the lack of windows.

Wanna try local Egyptian, then this is your destination, from HAMMAM MAHSHI (stuffed local pigeons) to FATTAT KAWARI (Cow feet soup with extras). Though other places exist, this ranks #1, at least IMHO. Great atmosphere, service, interior decoration, and hookahs Really a MUST SEE

I have eaten 5 times at the About el-Sid. It has been the best Egyptian food I have had during my times in Cairo. It was easily in walking distance from the old Sofitel (now the Holiday Inn) in Maadi. It was the first Egyptian restaurant I ate at with a group of Americans from the State Dep't working with... A lovely restaurant with an excellent choice of mezza dishes. the main courses are not quite so good or such good value. In my opinion, it is best to choose lots of mezza dishes to share, especially if there are a few people. Bon appetit!!

Great selection of traditional Egyptian dishes. Fabulous atmosphere while not being a place for tourists only - there were mainly locals in the Restaurant. Recommended: stuffed pigeon and liver a la Alexandria.

Really nice place, serving good quality food. Probably the only place serving "Egyptian food", the type that you eat at home. Things like "Molokheya" is rarely served in restaurants, and Abou el-Sid does it really well. There is a good variety of grilled food, chicken, ... The atmosphere is quite nice, decor and music are very nice. The down-side is... More

Good oriental food with a great service .. considered over priced for Egyptians yet acceptable for tourists compared to its services PS: Not a fine dining place for sure
