Abou el-Sid is a great place to go to get a taste of home-style Egyptian food. The decor is excellent, and starts with the entry through a beautiful, discreetly signed door. Inside it is dark and filled with references to old Egyptian movie stars. The mixed mezze plate is always a winner and it's a fantastic place to try specialties... More

This was our best dining experience in Cairo. The decor is just fabulous. As for the food, the menu was full of traditional, home style dishes and the portions were plentiful. We also had great juices and some nice shisha to end the evening. It is in a great neighborhood for a stroll after dinner....a rarity in Cairo!

Recommended by one good friend of mine; I had to see for myself. So I was very much prepared to gain 3 more KGs due to the super tasty food that , so i was told, I won't be able to resist. A nice restaurant serving typical Egyptian foods cooked by the traditional way in brick ovens and sometimes using tageens. Food is good, prices are on the higher side but not prohibitive. Many branches are there even I have been to one in ashram Elsheikh!! I took some foreign friends and they loved the place.

I visited Porto Cairo Mall branch, it was pretty poor .. The food was not tasty, it was cold and prices were a bit steep compared to the service and food. I wouldn't recommend it, and won't be visiting again ...
