Cute place

Visited this restaurant on my first night in Itaewon. It was lovely, nice food and very good staff. As we had hadn't seen our son for 2 years it was a great place to enjoy a meal and talk without heaps of music blasting you out of the place.

This chain operates a location in Seoul and another in Busan. I have been to both now and can't recomend either one. My Girlfriend is native Korean and wanted me to take her to a tradional American pub for a burger and fries which isn't the eaisest thing to find in Korea and this is the best I could come... More

I have visited Gecko's on and off for almost ten years. It is just a bar. Their menu is rather limited, although I can recommend the "blackened chicken sandwich". Lots of U.S. military personal, if that is what you are looking for. There are lots of places to eat in Seoul. This one should not be at the top of... More

On weekends it difficult to get a table at Gecko's because it is well known among locals and foreigners a like. Thanks to its top notch real estate locale, Gecko's is accessible even to first-time itaewon visitors and is perhaps the place to go if you could go to Itaewon only once. The restaurant's food is standard american fare but... More

...but I found it at Gecko's. Very yummy. The french toast wasn't french toast the way I've come to know and love it. So you'll be a tad disappointed if you order that. I know I was. The burgers and fries were all delicious. The service and prices are fair. The music was on point. It's the best place to... More

As far as a restaurant? This place would get one circle. I would hate to put a review up and get people confused. If your looking for a drink and dont mind bieng around loud americans this is your place. After all it is in itaewong. The place is small and is usually very crowded. The prices are fair for... Chicken strips are the best deal on the menu. Order without fries and it will feed four! Good atmosphere other than when the overly drunk or lewd crowds gather late weekends

i am not a big fan of the atmosphere of geckos terrace. maybe it's not very fair of me to be biased but it is called meat market and i don´t want to look one. but i sometimes have to go there for a kôstritzer which i fell for in germany and some guilty pleasure from greasy food.

If you are looking for traditional Korean cuisine you won't find it here, but if you just need a burger and a beer then this is the place. Everything is quite reasonably priced and the staff are friendly and helpful. It generally seemed to be an ex-pat hang out.

Good place for burgers and the fish and chips are about the best in Seoul (also good at the Wolfhound down the alley behind Geckos). You can bring your kids for lunch or an early dinner - pre 6 pm. After that the bar atmosphere really kicks in. Window seats are great in spring and fall.

Staying in Itaewon

Neighborhood Profile
Itaewon
Neighboring the immense Yongsan American Garrison, Itaewon was once shunned by locals as a seedy, red light district. But within the past few years, Itaewon and its surrounding neighborhoods such as Kyunglidan and Haebangchong have undergone a major revival to quickly become one of Seoul’s hottest areas. Here, trendy international restaurants dot the area alongside hip lounge bars and some of Seoul’s hottest club venues. After dark, Itaewon comes into its own as one of Seoul’s top party scenes. The crowd is a fascinating patchwork of all backgrounds and identities, including a small but thriving Muslim community (centered on Korea’s sole mosque), the LGBT community (with a string of popular bars and clubs), and a wide range of ethnicities and cultures scattered around. Those seeking a quiet respite should head towards the eastern end, in Hannam-dong, which not only has one of Korea’s best art museums, the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, but plenty of mid-range to upscale restaurants and cafes.
