Good for Korea

This was good Mexican food for Korea. The flavors weren't necessarily authentic, but it satisfied my cravings. The queso wasn't your typical queso. And the burrito had a cinnamon type flavor to it. It actually really hit the spot when I ate it as leftovers though! This is a really busy place so... read more

The atmosphere and food are fantastic. Very lively, modern, stylish restaurant and the food is delicious. Our server was super attentive and friendly. The portions are small, though, so if you are a big eater expect to have to order more. I expected more given the price point. But if you're not on a tight budget and you want to... More

I wouldn't consider it 100% authentic, rather it is it's on thing with a combination Korean cuisine with TexMex style.

I thought the tacos were great. I wasn't expecting them to be too good. The chips that came with the guacamole were also very tasty.

This place was recommended by a friend who used to live in Seoul. Advised to try the kimchi fries which we did and they were very nice. She made no mention of the strawberry daiquiris though - they were amazingggggg! :oP Both of us had burritos which were fine, just not very big (as other people have mentioned). If we'd... More

The prices are steep for a quick lunch which makes it better suited for quality time with friends. They have a great beer selection and nice adaptations of classic recipes. The service is great, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is lively.

Get the kimchi and pulled pork fries! Not sure why people complain about portion size, you can order a plate with 2 or 3 tacos. Three is plenty. The only downside is they charge for bringing out more chips. One of my favorite places to eat whenever I made it to Seoul.

After years of visiting Seoul this trip in April was like the whole Itaewon district had bloomed. Vatos was a very cool restaurant run by Korean American. Very hip and hard to get into but worth the visit. Drinks were fabulous along with Kimchi Fries. Highly recommend. Great ambience and lively crowd and good food.

Locals rave about Vatos, but I believe there are better options. The food and the service are very good, but the portions are small and prices are higher. Even so, the kimchi fries are worth a visit. Great location on Itaewon and always busy.

Staying in Itaewon

Neighborhood Profile
Itaewon
Neighboring the immense Yongsan American Garrison, Itaewon was once shunned by locals as a seedy, red light district. But within the past few years, Itaewon and its surrounding neighborhoods such as Kyunglidan and Haebangchong have undergone a major revival to quickly become one of Seoul’s hottest areas. Here, trendy international restaurants dot the area alongside hip lounge bars and some of Seoul’s hottest club venues. After dark, Itaewon comes into its own as one of Seoul’s top party scenes. The crowd is a fascinating patchwork of all backgrounds and identities, including a small but thriving Muslim community (centered on Korea’s sole mosque), the LGBT community (with a string of popular bars and clubs), and a wide range of ethnicities and cultures scattered around. Those seeking a quiet respite should head towards the eastern end, in Hannam-dong, which not only has one of Korea’s best art museums, the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, but plenty of mid-range to upscale restaurants and cafes.
