House of memories has the attraction of housing the office of former general Aung - father to famous Aung Sa Suu Kyi - on the first floor. The building is colonial and location is fine (you need to go a little bit up the small road). Food is nothing special - OK, but not memorable.

Went to House of Memories with a group the other night, having been there once before around a year ago. It's a cool place with lots of history. Check out the upstairs for the General's historic writing room, old photos and other bits of Burma history. The food is reasonably priced, not spectacular but quality is good and portions are... Unique corner of history - see general Aung San´s office upstairs. Can dine outside, nice in evening.

We were a group of 6 plus a dear friend of the group who is local. We had lunch and she chose all the dishes and to me all but one was awesome. I wasn't too fussed on the onion in brown bean paste.. We all enjoyed the different ways that vegetables were cooked and the service was good for... More

This restaurant is located in a century-old residence and is certainly worth a visit for those in Rangoon for more than a few days and looking to eat outside of a hotel. On the culinary side I think the restaurant is trying to please too many different types of palates. The menu lists a number of different types of cuisines,... More

Went to Myanmar with quite low expectations on food, and House of Memories turned this around. We ordered a set meal with starters, mains, dessert and beverage. We only paid about 5-6k kyat, which is approx $5-$6 USD per Pax I enjoyed the pork curry, which contrary to what I've eaten, is just pork cooked in lots of onions. The... More

History buffs visiting Myanmar / Yangon should make sure to visit. Very beautiful and very interesting venue to go if the food is not the only priority. Foof choices are good, service not great but ok it is the ambience that makes the dinner a great experience. That is providd, you don't choose a table next to Aung Sangs wartime... More
