Back to the past

It is a little bit like we were back in the colonial era, nice place, high ceilings. The food was very nice at a decent price.

In a very nice building in a dark street of Yangon, you will find this excellent restaurant, serving Burmese, Thai, Vietnamese, Laos and Cambodja dishes in a nice room with attentive and friendly staff. Prices are more than acceptable for European standards (unfortunatelly, perhaps not for average locals). A must if you are in Yangon...

Food and staff were wonderful. A very reliable option. Beautiful location. Large menu, but many of the ingredients are shared, so that didn't bother me. Wide variety of Myanmar, Thai, Lao, Cambodian and Vietnamese food. Good drinks as well. Very mindful staff.

A lovely restaurant that specializes the the different foods of SE Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar). Simple, elegant decor in a restored colonial era building. Excellent service. We had cocktails, appetizers, entree and dessert. I'm told that lunch can be busy with busloads of tourists, but it was quite and lovely the night we ate there.

Had dinner here on a Sunday night. First impression was great as its in an old colonial house. However, when we got to the table, the cushions on the seats were dirty, and the tablecloth had old stains on them. The staff were attentive and very polite. Menu was extensive which was good and bad - makes you wonder if... More

When looking for places to eat in Yangon, there are plenty of smaller, cheaper options. But for a welcome relief from the heat, head here and sample anything from the large menu. The food was delicious and the atmosphere lovely. Good, mid-upper range option.

We had a very good dinner at Monsoon Restaurant after spending a few dollars next door at Pomelo! The Colonial room is just gorgeous, the welcome was warm, the service extremely attentive and the food very good. The menu includes a huge range of South East Asian cuisines which makes it hard to make a choice but we stuck with... More

We had a lovely meal at Monsoon. We were warmly greeted and quickly seated. The food was tasty with reasonable sized portions. Service was attentive. It was great to relax in the colonial era building after slogging our way around the market earlier in the day. Make sure you also go to the shop down a few doors and up... More

Monsoon is in downtown Yangon in a nice colonial building. You can find a great variety of dishes from Myanmar and neighbor countries. Seems that the owners are turning the restaurant into a cash cow instead of keeping it small and with quality. A poor management decision. Still, it's a nice place to go if you are in the neighbourhood.

first night dinner in Yangon was at Monsoon. A restaurant with a wide international menu including separate meh for Mynamar, Vietnam, Thai and continental. Wanted to taste Mynmar first order few appetisers and a main course. taste was ok but not the best. Friendly staff.
