We attended Monsoon restaurant on recommendations from our guide, and also seeing that it had a relatively good rating on tripadvisor. But it was a big disappointment. We first ordered a Gin&Tonic, which arrived completely flat, i.e. no carbon in the tonic. When complaining the just added more tonic to the drink, still without bubbles. Starter was good, typical Burmese... More

Last evening in Myanmar. Before our 24 hours trip the next day, we choosed safety and went in this recommended restaurant with quite high prices. We choosed the myanmar food in the menu. Appetizers were very good but the main courses were a disapointment. This morning we woke up early because of a stomach ache. We are both very sick... More

After checking trip advisor we decided to order the Butterfish. We all ordered the same and it was delicious. The restaurant was quite basic empty when we arrived at 6.00pm but it filled up quickly mostly with Westerners

...my meal was very poor, as was a friend's. Most reviewers speak very highly of The Monsoon, so I have to suppose I went on an 'off' night. Full marks for ambience, modest marks for staff, good marks for wine..shame the food was dreadful. Bony chicken (thighs, I guess) served in a thin and lukewarm gravy did not amount to... More

Loved the setting in an old colonial house but the place could do better. The food was good but I found the service a little automated it was the same in the Strand Hotel. As everywhere there was an automatic service charge 10% which wasn't really earn't. My meal was cold they took the curry away, it came back cold... More

Loved this place, ate here twice. Enjoyed the tea leaf salad and local delicacies. Great introduction to Burmese food, especially if you want to avoid the street stalls. A short walk from the Strand Hotel.

This is not the place if you are looking for an authentic Myanmar experience as it is teeming with tour groups and expats. The food is average, although the menu is extensive and there are variations in the quality of the dishes. The one plus is that it is one of the few places in Yangon that actually has tonic... More
