Very good food in lovely atmosphere

We had dinner here on our last night in Yangon and were not disappointed. We liked the selection of food from various Asian countries. I had a Laotian eggplant and pork dish that was delicious, and my husband had a Thai dish that was also very good. Service was friendly and good, and prices were... read more

Not the cheapest of places but well worth the visit. Beautiful old building and atmosphere is very interesting. Staff were very pleasant and attentive.

Wide menu selection (Burmese, Thai, Chinese); we ordered from the Burmese section - curry Beef and curry chicken, rice, eggplant salad with prawns, and a dessert. Waitstaff were nice and friendly, and we even saw our waiter practising his English at a corner. Excellent salad; Chicken curry was room temperature; a fly joined the rice and never left the plate... Went with friends who were all scared of street food. Too much money and better places to eat. Popular with expats and uninformed tourists

We went there to eat lunch. The food was well cooked and well presented and was delicious and tasteful. The waiters are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean and wide.Every single item that we ordered, from appetizers to entrees to cocktails, was excellent. Especially chicken curry we ate is so delicious.

Monsoon is a lovely restaurant in an elegant old colonial building with high ceilings, dark wood, and ceiling fans. The extensive menu covers all of SE Asia and it is fun to pick and choose from the different sections. I chose a fishcake which on arrival turned out to be an inedible rubbery disc of fish. The staff were charming... More

This place looked nice and busy so we tried it on our first night in Yangon. We should have known by the huge menu let alone the speed of service that it wasn't going to be great. In fact the food was poor and my pork curry turned out to be beef, one of those times when the thought crosses... More

We came here three times knowing that there'd always be something on the menu we'd like to try. The staff are welcoming and friendly and it's true this is a place that either middle class Burmese frequent, ex-pats and tourists.

What a find. We have eaten street food over most of Asia, but, refrained in the cess pit that is Yangon. So when we found Monsoon we were delighted. They serve local, Thai, Laos cuisines. Happy hour on cocktails was from 4-7. Food and service were good. Prices more than you'd pay on the street, but, cheaper than a hospital... More

We had lunch in this restaurant accidentally. During our recent visit to Yangon we were hunting for Pomelo, a shop that showcases and sells handicrafts made by handicapped and marginalized artists. After we had done our shopping in Pomelo, we came across Monsoon which is almost adjacent to Pomelo. The room is big, airy and also has a mezzanine for... More
