Went as a group, all food served hot and tasty. Popular with tourists. Cocktails served, beer can be expensive.

Based upon some reviews, we were excited to make reservations at this place only to sadly discover that mediocre (and barely warm) food was delivered by a server who could care less in a boring, dingy room. Some reviews remarked upon the "colonial" aspect which could only mean that colonial buildings can be as prosaic as contemporary ones. Alas.

Tasty food, excellent service, lovely cool air con and great value for money. Also just next door is Pomelo a great place to buy quality products for a good cause.

Simple but good place for lunch. Conveniently located in downtown Yangon. Good menu and not too costly.

The Monsoon is a great place to eat! The variety of food offered, service and atmosphere makes this one of our favorites for Yangon dining. If you hadn't booked a table you were able to drink at the bar while you waited for a table. This is a very busy restaurant as large tour groups are fed up stairs, and... More

The food was fantastic here. Having traveled to Bagan and back, my boyfriend and I had already experienced Burmese food. Had we started at Monsoon, we would have had an excelled primer to it. The interior is well designed, though it has to be a workout for the runners to get the food from the kitchen upstairs down to the... More

Having lived in Yangon for three years, Monsoon is a favorite restaurant. It is near Bojyoke Aung San Market and the downtown area; convenient for a mid day break. The atmosphere is calm with greenery, polished bar, and cooling ceiling fans. It feels like you are stepping back in time or as if one is a character in a 1930's... More

How do those great reviews of restaurants reach these pages? The restaurant served boring (and mostly near-cold) food delivered by a server who could care less in a room that lacked any kind of charm (four walls with a couple of photos slapped up) whether in a "colonial" setting or not. Pricey and better food found in Chinatown on the... More

I must admit disappointment with Monsoon. Had heard much praise and many "must go" so we went. It looks impressive, an old colonial building etc. However the food was underwhelming, the service OK. As our introduction to Myanmar and the food it was literally a foretaste of the 'oily bland' school of cooking. Quite expensive for what it is and... More

Monsoon offers specialty dishes from most South East Asian countries, so the menu is huge, but waiting staff will happily assist if you seek their recommendations for good combinations. We have been here often - the food is always good and the variety amazing. Enjoy and experiment.
