High Tea in classic style

Classic High Tea comes with three levels of delicious sandwiches, scones, and an assortment of sweets, coupled with a good selection of tea or coffee. More filling than one would imagine at first blush. Service was correct and prompt. The carefully renovated, renowned hotel has lots of... read more

For a treat, a meal at the Grill of the Strand Hotel is fun. The food is excellent, the service is great, the presentation is well done, but, most importantly, the ambiance of the restaurant is fantastic. The prices rival NYC, but you're paying for the romance... as well as good food. They also offer a high tea.

On a hot day in Yangon this is a bit of an oasis of calm (and air conditioning!) We had lunch here - the food was tasty and well presented but nothing overly special. The mint drink was lovely and refreshing (as was the beer apparently) It is expensive compared to eating elsewhere in Yangon but we expected that -... More

Really, I love myanmar people! Always so smily and welcoming and kind... So Is hard to accept that "snobbish" would be the word to describe that staff of this restaurant. I have been there a few times and some of them I had a smile or another but generally they are so "robotic" and borderline rude. I was just there... More

The grill is clean and bright, but the food is very average. Ate breakfast and dinner here, both were ok but nothing special. As opposed to most of the staff in the hotel, the hostess seemed very annoyed when we asked to be seated. Service was slow but cordial. Since we didn't want to leave the hotel, this was the... More

By US standards, this was not that expensive. The service is wonderful, the atmosphere elegant, the food preparation very good. It is an oasis after a day of vigorous sightseeing. The neighboring bar also serves good food along with the drinks.

I've been to most places to eat or drink in Yangon but not here, so I was looking forward to having lunch in the place that Rudyward Kipling had stayed. I arrived at 11.30 am but the lady at the door did not want to let me in and suggested several times I should go to the bar as lunch... More

The colonial style hotel was renovated 10 years ago. The restaurant is such a let down. Both chicken and beef burgers were way overcooked to inedible. The sides were also flat, except the price.
