One of the oldest French Res. in town

Pros: Great taste of food, nice and informative French owner Cons: Taking too long to serve a dish. I had waited for almost an hour for my first dish.

If you like steak, there is no place better that L'Houstalet in Port Vila. It has been there for over 40 years and the menu is still the same. It is too good to change. THIS IS A MUST.

This is my second visit to L'Houstelet in recent years and I was hoping that my disappointing first visit would be improved upon the second time around. But it was not to be. After having amazing meals and truly friendly service in various venues around Port Vila I found the food at L'Houstelet to be only average and the service... More

We had a recommendation to come to L'Houstalet and were not disappointed. There are several areas you can sit, we chose to be out the back with all the locals. The French owner started the restaurant many years ago and it has become quiet an insitution in Port Vila. One of the specialities is Flying Fox, I had to say... More

Yes, I did eat the bat. If you like gamey, wild rabbit, you'll like the bat dish! It is a bit fiddly and bony, but as the proprietor told be with a cheeky smile: I ave not found a bat wisout bones yet! My husband had a pizza, so plenty to eat for non bat eaters :-). The restaurant itself... More

it was more like an Italian restaurant. The food was very nice and tasty, they too could do Gluten free meals. For a restaurant rated with $$$ i found it hard to believe that the salt and pepper shakers were saxa bottles and the foliage around the resturant was just in plastic bags.

Our family of two adults and two teens enjoyed our evening and meal. The restaurant is a lot larger than it looks with three areas, two indoor areas and an outdoor area. We chose to sit inside in the non smoking indoor area. The restaurant is popular with couples and families and seemed quite busy. We were served very promptly... More

A bit of an institution in port Vila. Food is very good. Plenty of space. Air conditioned. Good service. Famous for the flying foxes. Had the garlic snails. A little pricey but worth it for the overall experience. Menu is pretty good. Lobster was very good and surprisingly the kids rated the pizza as excellent

The food is amazing and the staff were also. It is my favourite restaurant in port Vila! I love the carbonara and the citronade( lemonade?) In all I think that L'houstelet is great!
