Food and service excellent and the prices for food and drinks were very reasonable. Loved the desserts.

1. The owner served us an expensive bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, that he had clearly labelled himself as this was so far from drinking like the real thing it was unreal, backed up by him having spelt Chateauneuf-du-Pape incorrectly; 2 The "lobster" omelette was filled with cat food, or at best tinned mackerel, clearly not lobster and looked like it had... Having read so much about this restaurant we were expecting so much more. The food was below average and the staff seemed to be extremely miserable.

Great food, great prices and lots of staff. The food is really down to earth French provincial cuisine. The restaurant is decorated as if you are going to a French provincial restaurant in the 70'2. We just loved it.

So very expensive for such ordinary surrounds and food. For the price one should be getting true international French cuisine in stylish surrounds by well trained staff. Living on the glory of its past it is not up to the standard of a back street Parisian Cafe. Very Disappointed.

First ate here in 1988. Food is still great and L'Houstalet has retained all it's charm and quirkiness after all these years. The owner Clement also gave us a free lift back down to the casino after we'd finished. There was still an extensive menu even though the cyclone aftermath was still affecting local supplies.

We visited this restaurant on our last visit to Vanuatu so it was a no brainer to return this time around. Again not disappointed with the food. The pizzas are great and when my arrived at the table I recalled from my last visit that I should have shared a pizza. 'note to self' share pizza :). The only downer... More

I had their famous French Onion soup. Service was excellent especially considering it was only days after Cyclone Pam had hit Vanuatu.

If you like steak, there is no place better that L'Houstalet in Port Vila. It has been there for over 40 years and the menu is still the same. It is too good to change. THIS IS A MUST.
