What a wonderful experience. Although the flying fox and wild pigeon are the specialities of this restaurant, we had three different beef dishes and a pork dish, each of which was excellent. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive. Whilst the mains were around 2,800vt, this was the norm for good food in Port Villa

An intriguing restaurant. Very dated & old with a pool table and old chairs right at the enrty. Walking through to non smoking at the rear I was unsure what to make of this place I was about to eat in. Looking past the grotty decor & supermarket S&P shakers & plastic table cloths I kept an open mind. My... More

Me and my boyfriend came here on the last day of our holiday for dinner, he ordered fish and I had to try the local coconut crab. I love seafood and eat it often but this was the WORST MEAL EVER!! The crab was long dead and the meat was already dry and tough but they still serve it to... More

Lovely service, from the women employees, a bit creepy beyond that. Food awful, overly salty, overlooked. Avoid.

We had a great night here - delicious traditional French food (apart from the flying fox) in an old school environment. We pulled up outside and thought we were in the wrong place but the outside doesn't match the inside. We had the French Onion Soup and crab soup - both great. Then lobster and the crab - amazing. Dessert... More

I used to frequent this restaurant many years ago & went back recently to enjoy a few meals! The value for money is notable & french inspired atmosphere. Everybody at the table was happy with their meals which rarely happens! Cute little carafes of wine are available & ad to the french feel. You will have a nice evening out... More

We were a group of seven, across ages ranging from late 20's through early 70's. The variety of food, including flying fox which two of the group enjoyed, through steak, fish, chicken and lobster with bread and light salads was plentiful and great. The owner/manager and staff were helpful and courteous - and provided us with a variety of drinks... More

This is one of the few long-standing restaurants left in Port Vila, and it's character is second to none. Though some of the chairs are showing their age a little, this is a place where the ambiance is fantastic. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and given the choice of indoor, outdoor, or air-conditioned dining. The air-conditioned dining is smoke... More

I went to L'houstalet with my girlfriend, and I had one of the pizzas in the menu, I think It was great food and service. Clearly the most common language for the staff is french, but there is no problem with the english anyway. There's a very particular dish in this place , which is the flying fox, I didn't... More

Upon walking in it was a very different scene to what i'm used to. Authentic french however a little bit dingy and dark but it was a different atmosphere so I adapted. It appears the same thing happens for every customer who walks in. They walk in and are greeted by the owner who takes them to their table. Only... More
