Very good Palauan Japanese food

The owner of this restaurant is Palauan / Japanese and the food reflects both cultures. Lots of fish, and native dishes. I really like the food and have gone several times. The papaya salad is really delicious. I dropped the rating slightly because service is usually slow, but worth a cab ride... read more

We decided to visit carp restaurant after reading these positive feedbacks. However, the food was very disappointing... we had mix tempura, prawn tempura, bat soup, fried noodles and giant clam sashimi, tempura plates are terribly greasy and I wouldn't even call it a tempura instead of a plate of over-cooked vegetables (check the pics). giant clam was cut into chunks... Ok last night of our stay we did not want to go far and finally asked a front desk person who said I have the perfect local place. He said follow me and we did out the back gate, do not tell anyone as I am not suppose to show this to you, cute, and out we went and to... More

This restaurant is a bit off the main track (as much as this can be in such a small town). You will not see it driving along the main road in Koror. But we had a recommendation and hunted for the restaurant following instructions. Well worth the effort. Good food, large portions (perhaps too large). We went back for another... More

I don't know why people raved about this restaurant, the food was terrible. We ordered tempura, which had no batter on it and a greasy mess! The shashimi was fatty and disgusting. The only thing good out of the 3 dishes we ordered was the garlic rice.

We heard that this is one of the best local food restaurant in town so we just had to try it. If you are daring enough to try "local" food, this is the place for you. If eating fruit bats is your thing then this really is the place for you. We tried 3 different dishes and never found one... More

While we did not try the flying fox soup, the local dishes were good, as well as the Japanese/Korean fusion dishes. Patronized by local residents as well as tourists, Carp Restaurant delivers on its reputation for good local food.

In brief: way too much hype. Yes, the service was somewhat slow. But what’s your rush when you’re on a tropical paradise? Our server was nice and patient. We had already ordered a large coconut crab ($100USD) the night before (because, apparently, you need to reserve your crustacean ahead of time). It was kind of a let-down when we found... More

Carp Restaurant looks kind of bad from the outside, but the inside of the restaurant is pretty nice. The food is very cheap and yummy. There is fruit bat soup which I find pretty disturbing though.
