Poor food very average and stange flavour combinations... tandoori chicken spring roll? Side salads looking old and re used and unfortunately some staff whom have some questionable hygiene. The wine list is its only saviour.

Marmite proved to be the quintessentially French bistro dining experience that we had been hoping for during our stay. The third night into the holiday (and unfortunately after booking the sub par Le Roof for New Year's Eve) we were welcomed by Thomas and his friendly team for a beautiful night of unpretentious yet delicious and well thought out food... Marmite et Tire Bouchon (which I think translates to Ladle and Cork Extractor) was a very special restaurant in Noumea. We ate there on our last evening before flying home the next day. The view of the bay at dusk is amazing and the restaurant seems to soak up that special atmosphere. The food was delicious and wonderfully presented and... More

Excellent food very well presented and of great quality. Great wine list. Good choice of wines by the glass. Good service and not overly expensive.

I went with family for lunch and we took the table d'hôte. Waiters were attentives, though it didn't feel high end. It wasn't a busy lunch, but the service was slow. It took almost 30 minutes to get the entrees and we waited another 30 min to get the mains. I took the escargots / ravioli entree, it was delicious.... More

We booked this busy restaurant via email from Australia, thanks to Thomas who turned out to be an affable and informative 'Responsable de salle". We were keen to book, as it was a Monday night when many restaurants are closed. Marmite and Tire is located in a pretty spot on the Baie de Orphelinat not far from the city centre.... More

We had dinner here for a birthday and the food and service could not be faulted. The menu is limited but that means the food comes out quickly, is prepared and beautifully presented and has a sense of France about it. Note no one ordered the tandoori dish which is really out of place with the rest of the menu.... More

Visited this restaurant on a weekday for dinner. They were very friendly and spoke English. They have a good wine selection. The starter's were quite average. Curry crab gratin sounded interesting but tasted as if it had been made from old fashioned curry powder and overpowered any other flavours. A main course of seaweed wrapped mahi-mahi had little flavour and... More

This place had real charm and I was pleasantly surprised at the sophisticated menu. The portions were reasonable and we had two courses each with wine. I cannot comment on the bill, as my hosts took me to dinner, but I suspect it's pricy even by Noumea standards. Staff were friendly, and I just lived being surrounded by French speakers.
