Located at the edge of the old town center in a small house on the upstairs floor, the walls are all decorated with Spanish quotes of wisdom, with some rudimentary knowledge of Spanish you will be busy the whole evening deciphering the morsels of wisdom. The ratings in trip advisor were all over the place from the best paella to... More

I had lunch there with a small group of people. Very attractive venue, situated in the upper story of an old house in the downtown area of Asuncion. Walls are decorated with vintage cast iron and ceramic crockery inscribed with traditional Spanish proverbs and witty folk sayings. There are seashells hanging in garlands from the tall ceilings. Don't miss a... More

I ordered a paella with a gazpacho for a starter. While waiting for the gazpacho the waiter brought me some bread and some cream to dip it in. The cream stuff didn't taste anything other than cream. Then came the gazpacho soup. The soup itself was around body temperature, but they had put ice cubes in it to cool it... More

We ate in this restaurant 4 nights running and were never disappointed. Pablo, our host, was a charming and very friendly person indeed. The menu was very varied and the wine and beer list also having choices from Spain and Italy besides those from Paraguay and surrounding South American countries. The Paella, Cordero al Chilindron and the Rabo de Toro... More

This is really one of the worst quality / price meal I have had in my life. Supposed to be a typical Spanish restaurant, I had three typical Spanish servings: tortilla, octopus and paella. The tortilla was too savoury and also mushy, as its potatoes were overcooked. The octopus was badly frozen and badly unfrozen, and the result was that... More

This is a great place to have a date or to stop by for a drink (Sangria!). It took them 8 years to decorate the place. The walls are covered in writtings and there are beautiful shells hanging from the ceiling. The food is well worth is. Don't forget to do a little tour of the place after! It is... More

Having been favourably impressed on my first visit, in May 2011, I was anxious to return to the Taberna Espanola and having missed it on my third visit of 2011 did so, with three friends, in April 2012. I must admit that I was extremely underwhelmed! As the Fabada which had so impressed me on my previous visit was not... More

Was pretty ill for about 24 hours after eating the shrimp paella from this place. Note to self: don't eat shellfish from a land-locked country.

Ate there for the first time this past weekend and boy was it good. The Paella was fantastic. Don't waste your time on much else. Good selection of wines too. Service was very good with attentive staff.
