A nice surprise amidst many too common restaurants

Lodged in the next door Europa hotel I decided to enter El Consulado for a different kind of lunch. Well, as from the moment you enter you get a nice feeling. We enjoyed a memorable meal in the glass "conservatory" of this former Panamanian consulate, on a quiet side street near the city's El Prado (main avenue). My spouse's llama filet was amazingly tender, and the grilled vegetables were superb. My vegetarian platter consisted of various small portions, lovingly prepared, including black quinoa, falafel, yuca (manioc/cassava) and cheese patties, grilled vegetables... More

W came here on the advice of Cosycoffeeshops blog, looking for the great coffee in La Paz. It did not disappoint. The atmosphere is lovely in a beautiful conservatory surrounded by a garden of fruit trees. They have heaters as well and asked us about the temp. W only had drinks here but they were exquisite! Smoothie with fresh mango... More

Somehow we went around the streets a bit before we found this place - arrived at the end of lunchtime and got a table outside no problem. Lovely flowery oasis of a garden (great escape from hubbub of La Paz). Delicious Duck Carpacio (smoked in coca leaves, served with quinoa and orange salad, marinated in sweet and sour sauce, with... We visited here for lunch and had really great sandwiches, salad, coffee and fruit juices. A bit expensive but really delicious and well presented. The man serving us was really friendly and helpful even though we had problems speaking Spanish. The garden you sit in is also really beautiful.

Eating here is so surreal. This place is peaceful and clean. Food is excellent. You wouldn't feel that you are having a lunch in the chaotic La Paz. The tables are in the garden with canopy. Ambiance and food are both great. Not too difficult to find and it is not too far away from the main road. It wasn't... More

This small restaurant is open for lunch only in an adorable restaurant located behind the Ritz Hotel. Located in the old Panamanian Consulate building, the restaurant is very clean and airy (in contrast to the rest of the city). The grounds were adorable with landscaping and even a single seat swing! The hibiscus drink was the best I've ever had... More

Superb quality of food, presentation and service. It would be considered excellent in the US, and in Bolivia it simply is an incredible find.

I had one afternoon meal here and found the ambiance and food delightful. Peaceful setting for a frenetic city. A bit difficult to locate, but near the Prado. The service was very good as well.

The food here is just sensational, and the wait staff are wonderful. Made my stay in Bolivia hugely more enjoyable. Only problem is the early finish time, but you can work around that.
