Wish we ate there more often!

The salteñas were amazing. We only wish we ate there more than twice. The vegetarian salteñas are great. The leche con limon is amazing...you must order it. Also so for the locoto to eat with the salteñas.

If you wanna try saltenas without worrying about questionable streetfood, this is your place to go. For little money you get delicious saltenas in four varieties (including a vegetarian option). As far as a understand the place is only opened for lunchtime. I went there around 12 o'clock and was the only tourist in the whole store. I guess this... More

One of the best Salteñas in La Paz. With 4 options to choose, you can enjoy salteñas even if you are vegetarian. You have to try them!

The history of empanadas is really vast, all around the world many different cultures have created delicious stuffed dough type of food. In Bolivia you always hear about the famous Salteñas, this baked empanadas with spicy beef or chicken stew (bolivian and exclusive salteña filling) are one real treat for almost everybody (so sorry for the gluten intolerant people) ;(.... These are, in my opinion, the best saltenas in La Paz, and a must have when visiting the city! Saltenas are a kind of empanadas filled with soup (sounds weird, I know, but they are amazing!) The place is pretty clean and tidy, attention is normal and there are even games for kids. This is a great option for a... More

Everyone tells you when you go to La Paz, you need to eat Saltenas. But, for the wary traveler, this may be a scary challenge. There are saltena shops and kiosks everywhere in La Paz but where can a traveler not used to eating Bolivian street food safely go and eat without worrying about getting sick? Here. Done. Check it... Being born and raised in La Paz, the first thing I do when I visit is hunt down saltenas and gorge myself silly. The challenge is finding the best street vendor because they move around town and because I no longer live here. So every trip becomes a treasure hunt. I prefer street vendor saltenas because they tend to be... More

My husband and I turned up at 1pm on a Monday and were able to find a table. We ordered a beef salteña and a vegetarian salteña each with a lemonade. The salteña's were so rich and juicy we absolutely loved them and will be returning tomorrow. Total price came to 29 bolivianos.

After we discovered this little Bolivian gem (on our Banjo Walking tour) we went back every day until we left La Paz. One day the two of us consumed about 10 saltenas in one sitting. Just go. I can't recommend this place enough. Try all of the saltenas because they are all absolutely delicious. Also try the jugo de maracuya... More

This little restaurant one and a half blocks from El Prado specializes in saltenas, better known as empanadas in other countries. These ones are amazing. They even have a vegetarian option! It's only open for breakfast and lunch, so get there early.
