Excellent food and ambiance

If you are looking for a great ambiance and excellent food, this is the place to be! I can't wait for my next trip to Lebanon to introduce it to my husband. Steak Frites for dinner and Pain Perdu for dessert... Simply beautiful!

Beside being one of the best restaurants in Beirut, the fact that Couqley has separate smoking and non-smoking sections gives it a big plus. Quality of food, service and prices are excellent. My only comment is about the lack of low-calorie desserts.

The place conveys well the Bistro spirit in the setting - minus the concept of moderate pricing and simple dishes:) The food is great and the service efficient and professional. To start, I quite like the onion soup but there are other interesting options. For the main course, I would highly recommend any of their succulent steaks cooked consistently to... More

My husband and I have dined here a few times and food, ambience and service are all excellent. Aside from the food being of excellent quality, the presentation is perfect. Steaks are cooked to perfection and the sauces are tasty additions. Pain Perdu is a must and the chocolat mousse was one of the best have ever tasted. We loved... More

Though a bit overpriced, but good food, nice lively atmosphere and excellent selection of booze. Nice salads as well as steaks.

Make sure you order the steak frites plate which is deliciously covered in a thick house sauce, other than that stir away from the soups as they come in a shots now real bowls. Their beef filet is also a delicacy.

Service: Not too bad yet not too quick, took all 3 dishes around 15m Friendliness: Nice staff, they'll be around. Taste: It's actually tasty, the express "COUQLEY’S STEAK FRITES" is very nice! Value: affordable except for the "FILET DE BOEUF PRIME" of course. Ambiance: Gemmayze branch, it's a bit crowded, not much space between the tables so you get to... More

this French type bistrot is very g ood. I went many times with family and with friends. the quality is constant and the prices are acceptable. better to go by foot to avoid the traffic. No pretention, no show of. I recommend Couqley for a convivial meal with friends.

Decided to try the place after reading about it on No Garlic no onion website and quite frankly the overall experience was good. We started with the hot goat cheese salad that was tasty especially with the pine nuts addition and apple shreds. They unfortunately do not serve Lebanese wine by the glass/carafe so we ordered a Bordeaux that the... More
