Proper authentic alleyway fare

When I was told I would be taken by my local friends to one of the best restaurants in Amman, I expected something spectacular. Then I was led up an alleyway in the old town to what I can only describe as a Jordanian Cafe, half in and half outside , plastic tables and very basic. Thats where the... read more

we could not believe this was the place so talked about when we got to it - no tables inside, just outside, no menus, no cutlery (unless you ask for it specifically). but food was delicious, brought to the table 1 minute after we had arrived and very cheap

very famous and sought after place to have some of the best hummus and falafel in the area. The only complaint is that the place does not show enough cleanliness and the service is not great.

Okay so the food is great, the atmosphere is very downtown oriental. Dress smart casual, don't over do it though as this is a very poor part of Amman yet very safe! The people are friendly and the hygiene is very good! Eat well!! Sahtain in Arabic!

Recommended by many, this restaurant was a great place for Arabic food lovers. The felafel, hummus and mint tea were superb. Just wished they served warm breads, but that's ok.

We had the typical dishes, Hommos, Foul, Msabbaha, and Fatteh. Best taste in the dishes I have had so far, and i have travelled the whole region (living in Dubai). Very affordable, great treat, speedy service and loved by locals - all great characteristics of a top spot!

Must visit this restaurant for the local cuisine. The food was traditional pita bread, flafel and hummus. We went there for every single dinner while in Amman. Very friendly staff as well.

We went here for lunch on our first day in Amman. The place was packed with tourists and locals side by side eating simple traditional meals which seemed to consist mainly of hummus, tabouli, pita breads etc...the pace was frantic and it was soooo cheap! We all immediately felt immersed in Jordanian culture.

This seems to be the hot spot in downtown Amman. My driver took me in for lunch and I was the only foreigner there it seemed. The turn over of the tables was fast and so was the food deliver. We tried fatteh, hummus, fuul and felafel, which also came with pitas, tomatoes, onion and basil (and a bowl of... More
