We visited Abu Shukri on our trip to Jerusalem followin guidebook advice. We ordered hummus, falafel and some orange juice and paid 25 NIS per person. It's not a bad prize, but we had some cheaper and better food in Israel. Hummus is simply divine. I can honestly say that is was the best I've ever tried. However, falafel was... More

After spending 10 days in Israel and enjoying many meals, we came upon this restaurant at the suggestion of a guidebook. Our group of 4 found the meal to be one of the poorest of our visit. The portions were tasty, but small and the cost was high for the amount of food provided. We found the restaurant to be... More

This was my first meal in Jerusalem, and stopped here after a city tour. I loved the atmosphere, I love how it's local. It was busy but service was great. They have birds in cages hanging on the wall. I'd never seen that before in my life and definitely did add to the atmosphere. We had a lot of different... More

I've been coming to Abu Shukri ever since I was a teenager. I was born in Jerusalem but now reside in the the USA. This is my fourth visit in five years and my first stop in the old city is always at this hummuseria. It doesn't get any better. Even though it's a hole in the wall, they've got... More

The falafel was delicious. The hummus, the tahini and the baba ghanoush were also very good. Everything delicious!

It was okay, The pita bread was hard and unwelcoming to the palate. They had good chickpea hummus, relatively rich and creamy. Falafel wasn't decent, not the freshest and pretty middle of the road. Overall, it's good. Pity it was only vegetarian though.

The place was a bit crowded but was number one price competitive restaurant I visited in Jerusalem. There were similar restaurants, some of them cheaper than this one, along Al-Wad road, but no regrets on Abu Shukri. Fresh lemonade is also recommendable.

I don't recall there being any decor or service... but oh my goodness, what delicious food! The best houmous I've ever eaten. A simple menu and NOT recommended if you're not a fan of houmous or falafal. Great location just opposite the Via Dolorosa. Had to come back a couple of days later for more.

Don't be put off by the price-less menu. The proprietors won't let you order too much or spend too much. Wonderful hummus. Good salads. Fine lemonade. Entering the restaurant is like entering a different world, perhaps even a different era. But they treat you right, like you're one of the family.

The location of this restaurant is great and apparently they serve a nice food also, because they were full all times that we passed in front of... But what do you think about a restaurant with no prices on the menu? Do you know that they act like that just to have the possibility to charge you as much as... More
