Cavalier has friendly staff and an accessible menu. The cooking is up there with the best restaurants in Jerusalem. Certainly not spectacular by global standards, but very good by Jerusalem standards.

Good food, unpretentious atmosphere in my opinion. Service was polite but cold. The waitress was too remote. I ate the veal fillet it was really good. The dessert menu was poor.

This was a recommended tip by the German issue "feinschmecker". But we expected more. For starter we had aspergus and the kohlrabi carpaccio. Aspergus more or less trivial. The kohlrabi was fine, the truffle oil addition a good idea. Main veal escalope came with mashed potatoes unfortunately pretty cold. They afford me a second mash potatoes but same temperature. The... I know this restaurant for many years and I used to dine there with my family or with friends on special occasions. Today, I made a reservation to celebrate my wife's birthday. It is difficult to describe our desappoinment. With the exception of the green salad (!),the wine and the San Pelegrino water, the rest of our selection was well... More

I made my first visit to Cavalier last week after living in the city for 30 years. I rarely go out to eat in the evenings since eating out in Jerusalem is so expensive and this restaurant was no exception. The food was tasty and service attentive but I'd be hard pushed to say that it was value for money.... More

There is nothing modern or trendy about the decor or the menu at Cavalier; the emphasis is on the consistent reliability of the dishes. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The food was exquisite, the ambience relaxed but special, and the service excellent. If you haven’t had a chance to dine at Cavalier, I suggest you add it to your... More

we had an early reservation, 7:30 after Shabbat and they were just opening and the restaurant for the first half hour smelt from smoke which was every annoying. however it would not prevent us from going back but it is something they should correct the food selection and taste is excellent as well as the wine selection the service was... If you are visiting the country and want to try local Arabic or Israeli/Kosher food, this is not the place - the French-style cuisine is average by New York, London or Paris standards, and its not kosher. However, if you have been here for a while and are craving something more continental/international this is one of the better options in... More
