Not for the luxury seeker, perfect for the foodie. As mentioned it is basically your surrogate Iraqui mom in a kitchen alcove passing out steaming plates of traditional awesomeness. She will scold you if you choose poorly and provide fabulous recommendations if you are open minded. Listen to mom!!

The place is not fancy, but has some of the best Israeli and Jewish food in Jerusalem. For 5 generations Rahmo offers basic food and simple dishes from fresh ingredients coming from the Machane Yehuda market. Food is cooked on old time burners. The portions are generous, served at the self-service window.

Our family of 4 adults and 2 children had dinner here on a Monday evening. We arrived at 6.30pm and the restaurant was relatively empty, however it is not very big, probably only seating 30 people. You have to order directly at the serving window, so don't sit at a table and wait for service. When we worked out what... More

This place is nothing fancy, but has some of the best Israeli and Jewish food in Jerusalem. Amazing falafel, knish, and other European and African food. Be quick though - it's busy, and they don't take well to dawdling!

For generations Rahmo offers basic food, simple dishes, from fresh ingredients from Mahane Yehuda market. Food is cooked on old time burners. Rahmo's portions are generous, served by a patient, cooperative attendant at the self-service window-style counter. Get to Rahmo for eating, not for dining. Any assurance that Rahmo's food is good and healthy? Probably yes: shopkeepers from the near-by... More

Sorry but I did not enjoy the food Although relatively the food served tastes pretty reasonable and the place is considered to be "authentic" but it's hard to enjoy it: There is no service (Self-service, you get the food through a small window that separates the kitchen from the "dining room"), although the portions are large but not attractive in... There's nothing fancy about it. It gives you the feeling of a blue collar restaurant - and historically, it was. Today, the dishes are not cheap (about 16$ for a main dish+drinks+ a small plate of salad), but are generous. The plates were filled to the brim, with a food cooked the old way with no preservatives (according to the... More

I would like to invite you on a trip in my time-machine back to the period of the British Mandate in Jerusalem, when people did not have electricity or gas and still cooked on primer stoves. We enter an eating hall with all the workers of the era, each claiming their bowl of rice and beans or their plate of Hoummus... More

Rachmo is a famous place in Jerusalem's shuk. It serves Middle Eastern food, such as hummous, vine leaves, kubeh, meatballs, rive with beans. It is all hearty and most of it is good. The hummous is mediocre, so a more wise choise is one of the soups, a mousaka or something else. The food is slightly heavy and it seems... More

One can't miss the unique smell of this dining iconic Institute by approaching the area. Basic Furniture, almost Canteen-style and Self-service to getting your dashers with fresh cocked meals. Find your fit table & than go stay in a line in front of a small serving window (ever been in Jail …!?) to ask what you want- So – while... More
