We were refered to this restaurant by our good Turkish friend. Took us a while to spot it, the restaurant is located at the entrance to the fish market. We came in at evening time, the owner's son gave us a "tour" and explained to us each dish on display. He was very friendly. The restaurant has an inner part... More

We like the staff's attitude and also the selection of "Ottoman" food, altough we have had similar food of same/better quality on the European side of Bosporous earlier. They did not serve beer or wine, although there was a wine/spirits shop just across the street. They had a few tables along the wall on the street side and some tables... More

We had trotter and tripe soup, seabass wrapped in paper, liver, pine nuts, and rice stuffed in sheep's intestine, tasted the sweet dessert of milk and chicken (you cannot see or taste the chicken which gives the dessert a texture). We will be returning when we visit Istanbul again. So go if you would like Turkish food not readily eaten... More

A very famous and old restaurant. I went just to taste their meals; however I felt a big disappointment. All we tasted were quiet ordinary, some of them that should be served hot were cold. Additionally the price was expensive. One may find better samples of that kind of cuisine in Istanbul.

The waiters speak fluent english and they're very friendly. They tried to explain in detail every single dish they offered and they have an extensive menu. The food is very good and healthy Too bad they don't serve beer with this food, would be the perfect match. But, I understand.

We have been visiting Yanyali more than 15 years. It has been a kind of family restaurant to us with delicious and always fresh food.

The food in this establishment in Kadikoy was the best we tasted in Istanbul. Well worth a ferry trip over to Kadikoy. it was inventive and tasty. Excellent variety of soups as well as main courses and incredible selection of desserts from in house patisserie. Put this restaurant at the top of your list to visit.

While in Istanbul, we looked up restaurant ideas from Tom Brosnahan's site. He recommended Yanhali, which is in Kadikoy, just a ferry ride from Istanbul to the Asian side of Istanbul. We found it without problems and it's excellent. Engin Sonmezler spoke English, we think he is either the owner or general manager. He took excellent care of us. He... More
