We had our first meal outside in Istanbul at the Pudding shop.We are vegetarians and had some knowledge of Turkish veggie food. The staff were very impolite and did not help us with deciding the dishes, strangely when we refused to order any drinks the first waiter just walked off and asked some one else to take our order. The service was quick... Decent lunch and helpful staff at this restuarant - a stone's throw away from the Blue Mosque / Aya Sofiya and just next to the tram stop. You cannot miss it. We are vegetrians and the waiter was helpful in giving us suggestions on what we could eat.

Famous as meeting place for tourists and backpackers in the 60s this place offers an extensive choice of food to try. Worth going if you have heard of it, if not I probably would not bother. Not that cheep and plenty of other places to eat.

Good authentic Turkish meals.. being in old Istanbul, it is in the tourist area, but the prices were OK. They had no problems catering for Margie's dietary needs (gluten intolerant). The day we were there, it was quite busy, but the service was still punctual.

If you are looking for authentic Turkish food, great service and comfortable environment you will like The Pudding Shop. My favorite meal is their schwarma on pita...it isnt on the menu, just ask and they will serve.

We had heard a lot about this place before we went( friends who had back-packed in the 60s.) The photos on the wall are an insight into how popular it was even then. Food is good and very reasonably priced. It's far more than a pudding shop!

While a must stop tourist trap and entree selection is overpriced, this is a piece of history as well as fun to watch big eyed tourists trying to get their wits about them. The kabobs are reasonable and good value.
