Haci Abdullah has a very good and well deserved reputation for good food. And it was delicious. Be careful though as you begin sit down to begin your meal. Good marketers that they are, we each (2 of us) had a salad and hors d' oeuvres on the table. They are not complimentary. The entre portion sizes are generous so... More

The food was excellent and authentic, but you paid a premium. Our meal averaged about $28 pp. the lamb dishes, especially the roasted lamb, was fantastic. The meat fell off the bone, and was tender and juicy. My wife's cold, grilled eggplant was also a winner. Very tasty, but not over seasoned or over cooked. The hidden extra costs prevented... More

We were taken here by a Turkish friend as we asked for a genuine Turkish eating experience. It provided a haven away from the bustle of the city. The right hand wall consisted of cabinets full of jars of home made pickles and other food. We were able to choose our own food and my wife felt she was in... More

Very tasty stuffed vegetables and deserts in a nice big restaurant. We did not try the meat as a main course. Service is "too" attentive. Plates are removed within seconds of your last bite. Pay attention that they charge for things that we have not been charged for in many other restaurants: 2.5 turkish lira ($1.25 approx) per person as... More

I have been to Haci Abdullah twice - the first time in 2009 a local colleague took me there and I went again on 30 May 2014. Similar case for my husband who went there with his Turkish friends many years ago and back again this year. It is one of my favorites in Istanbul with delicious authentic ottoman cuisine... More

No doubt the traditional food was very good, but the coin provided by the restaurant for luck after the meals was something memorable.

I love Haci Abdullah Lokantasi and I've been back to this establishment since mid-1980s. This is an amazing restaurant and i am proud to bring my American friends each time I visit Istanbul with a delegation. I noticed that over the years, the quality of the food is going down and it is getting greasier each time and the taste... More

Recommended by our concierge, I was slightly nervous that we were walking into a tourist restaurant. We were, but locals were eating there too. The waiter took us to see the dishes and three of us went for the slow cooked main courses. My lamb shank was good and the fourth dish of griddled lamb was generous and well cooked.... More

Since Turkish food is pretty simple and non fussy, a place like his would certainly be considered fine dining. Great waiters, reasonable value for the quality of food, and just downright delicious food. Went back a few times.

This place is amazing, there were 5 of us for dinner and we had 7 of the cold apetizers consisting of the green beans, asparagus, okra, flat beans, white beans, dolmas and stuffed green pepper all were amazing. We ordered 4 main courses of meat, two different types of lamb, a beef and chicken medallions everything was wonderful and the... More
