When your legs ache sufficiently to demand a break whilst touring Topkapi, make your way to the terrazza overlooking the Bosphorus where this excellent cafe-restaurant is located. The views are superb, and at mid-morning the crowds have not yet gathered here so it's possible to find a table to enjoy it all from. The cafe area is self-service. The pastries,... More

My wife and I visited the Topkapi last month (June). Highly recommend hiring one of the tour guides you see on the grounds by the ticket windows. We were on our own and inline long line to purchase tickets. We talked to an older gentlemen/tour guide who explained that he has tickets in his hands; he would take us in... More

It was a total surprise to us that this museum had a restaurant; it's at the back, on the side of the hill going down to the water, so it's not visible until you are literally at it's entrance. The views of the Bosphorus are truly awesome. The menu with pictures seemed a bit cheesy, though I have to admit... More

We visited for lunch as a group earlier in the week. The restaurant has a wonderful location, with sweeping views across and down the Bosphorus. Sadly the food didn't match the views. It was hard to tell for how long the starters had been sitting 'prepared', but the hummus was already changing colour...The kebab meat dish was inedible (for me... More

If you ever doubted the pitiful effects of a monopoly, you can see it on full display here. Konyali operates the only restaurant that is conveniently located within the palace walls (there is another right at the entrance so it is quite a trek), right on the Bosphorus providing spectacular views. Lured by the view you settle in for lunch.... More

We went here while visiting topkapi palace. We were hungry, tired and wanted to seat and wanted to have something fulfilling. Sef service desk was nice option. Deserts are good also. When we actually sat down, the views of the bosporous bay are awesome also. I found the menu prices bit on the higher side though. (because of location?)

We came here as part of our visit of the Topakapi Palace and Blue Mosque. Celebrity Cruise excursion chose this restaurant. The food was plentiful but not well prepared and not tasty!

We had an enjoyable luncheon as part of a tour group. All items on the multi-course Turkish luncheon were good to very good. The portions were generous. The service efficient albeit hurried. Seating was very tight. I cannot comment on the value given the meal was part of a tour. Our view of the Bosphorus straight was excellent.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
