Simply amazing

What can I say about this place other than what the title says? My friends picked the dishes, I was simply stunned and pleasantly surprised by every bite that reached my mouth. Turkish cuisine at it's best! It's far from anything remotely known as a touristic hotspot as far as I know, but if you... read more

Every bite of food here was amazing. They have a self serve mezze buffet and I took a tablespoon of each item - maybe 20 total - and that was my lunch. Amazing mix of flavors, textures. All interesting and fresh. Worth a ferry ride to Asian side! Plus you'll enjoy walking around that area, too.

Went with a Turkish friend who said the dishes weren't exactly classic Turkish, but that wasn't an issue really. The smug rude people at the hot and cold food counters, the measly servings (the yogurt lamb dish had probably four tiny cubes of lamb), and priciness are why I wouldn't come back here.

I have to admit that the food is always very tasty here. The prices are relatively high as the dishes are really small. But if you want to eat real authentic Turkish food, you have to guve it a try.

I enjoyed a fairly quick and enjoyable lunch at this famous eatery -- note that there are three variations on the Sofresi establishment all in the same area; pick the kebab house if that is your goal as a main dish. The starters were incredibly good (silky hummus, superb yogurt and vegetable dips). My eggplant kebab was good but somewhat... More

They offer very traditional even lost dishes from several regions. The salads and deserts are amazing but can not say the same for the kebabs and warm dishes (some are okay). Portions can be small.

Easily one of the top meals we had in Istanbul. Once seated, the system for ordering was unexpected. For the cold meze bar, you take a plate and fill it up with yummy goodness. Once filled, you weight it and they give you a receipt. I really enjoyed the beet salad which had really subtle herbs and onions mixed in... More

The food are above average. After having tasted a few good kebabs store in town, they are starting to taste the same for me. Once you get a seat they start putting out to you water and bread before you even see the menu heh..maybe it's the norm of how they serve tourists around here(?) As per other travelers advise,... I loved their traditional dishes, great value for money. English menu, few options (that says proficiency to me) and also sample salad bar with GREAT tasting options like hummus, fava beans paste, rocket salad and so on.
