The best hot wine you'll ever get to drink in Turkey. The food is a bit pricey for Istanbul standards, but this is the summit of vegetarian cuisine for us Istanbulites. Do go visit, sample their delicious home baked corn breads and always go for the hot wine. I mean it.

We had a great time at Zencefil. The dishes, even if there wasn't a very large choice, were tasteful and fresh. We had a quick discussion with the waiter (in French) and he was very nice to us. The patio is charming, and the quality-price ratio was more than acceptable. Go !

I am not vegetarian but we visited this restaurant because a collegue of us didn't eat meat!! The first impression was positive!! The waiter was a shy but very friendly girl who tried to explain to us in English the dishes of the day..I admit we were very indecisive but she was very patient! All the dishe were delicious, freshly... More

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Zencefil. Living in Turkey or even visiting it as a vegetarian can be tough at times but this little place took much of the suffering away! Other reviews tend to give the food a luke-warm review but I really do think that as far as vegetarian, home cooked and traditional dishes go, this place... More

Having no other Istanbul vegetarian restaurants to use for comparison, this nicely laid out and popular eatery was okay. The food was not exciting but it was very tasty and meat free. We ate inside since smokers filled the courtyard.

The service was ok, but food (eggplants) was not really what I expected; bread with olives and a very tasty green sauce was good, but they brought it without being asked for (and they charged me!). I didn't order anything else, also because they didn't have that much on the menu. I don't think I'll go there again.

I'm writing this review as we didn't actually EAT here, we just sat down, looked at menu and left.... The atmosphere is not really right for dinner, I think as a kinda of uni hangout place with a laptop at lunchtime its perfect, but not for a nice dinner (kind of like eating dinner at starbucks) We were still kind... All we ordered was an Eggplant Börek, which was soggy and luke warm. My boyfriend had lentil patties, which had no flavor. The apple tea did not taste like apple at all. We were given bread with olive oil and a herb butter with our meal. When the bill came we noticed we were charged for the bread even though... More

No doubt the food, vegetarian varieties and the location is great. However, the service is the worst I have ever seen. Been to Zencefil many times as I am a vegetarian, not once I have left the restaurant without arguing with the waiter(s). I kept on going as the food is really good but when I think of the poor...
