Great Place for Vegetarians

I think Vegetarians would love this restaurant as it is mainly Vegan food they have. I would recommend this place for a drink and dessert. I had potato and mushroom pie but the highlight was plum pie dessert.

Excellent location, high-ceilings, nice natural light and simple furnishing. I have seen many places and this is my newly-elected favourite veggie place. Vast choice of food, so many options to choose from, good wine list and simple, brilliant service. Just try it, you won't be disappointed.

I was given yoghurt which wasn't vegan with my vegan dish even though I had asked if it was vegan, the staff aren't particularly helpful. The food came within 5 mins. I had stuffed submerging, it didn't taste particularly fresh. This place didn't feel cosy

I liked the lovely courtyard but the food is average - microwaved vegetarian meals. The spinach lasagna and carrot ginger soup were good I suppose. They could do more with the menu. Great for drinks.

Our family was on our first night in Istanbul looking for a special place to celebrate my husband's birthday. We are all vegetarian so we found zencefil. A gorgeous oasis in a big city. We approached the staff with an enormous candle and a lighter with the request of a birthday cake and they immediately sorted it out without fuss.... More

Really liked the setting and zencefil's homebrew ginger beer. Unfortunately the service and food did not live up to the venue's appearance. Our dinners had clearly been heated up in the microwave as they were soggy. The eggplant borek I ordered was also very bland. The whole dining experience was over in about 20 minutes so it felt like they... More

A nice quaint restaurant few steps from Taksim Square on Istiklal Street. ZENCEFIL is Turkish for Ginger. This is vegetarian restaurant and serves some amazing dishes. Not a huge menu, but most of the dishes are very well prepared. The hosts are very nice and helpful. I will highly recommend this restaurant.

It is located off of the busy Istiklal street near Taksim square. When we visited for lunch the place was hardly busy. We ordered spaghetti with vegetables and we were surprised to find just a few stray pieces of zucchini and carrot. One would have expected a lot more from a restaurant that builds itself as a vegetarian restaurant. Most... More

Been there for lunch. Just seconds away from the main street, but soooo great place to relax in the shade. Very good menu, with really fresh food and very good vegeterian options. The homemade ginger ale was awesome!

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighborhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
