Description: Tarihi Cesme Restaurant is located in the historical heart of Istanbul on...
Tarihi Cesme Restaurant is located in the historical heart of Istanbul on the half-island of Eminonu very near to the big sights like the little Aya Sofya mosque and the old Sokullu baths. The restaurant has three storeys and a romantic garden with a view on the centuries old fountain and the picturesque streets. On the menu you’ll find the traditional Turkish dishes; hot as well as cold food. Off course all the kebaps are served, but the restaurant also serves fresh fish, pides and one should really try the house speciality: Cesme kebap. A real treat! We would like to welcome you in our restaurant one day.

We ate here twice as it was just across the street from our hotel. Inside/outside seating on a street that looks like a backstreet but is fairly busy. Food was authentic Turkish and very tasty. After one dinner there we returned the next night to have different dishes. The Cesme Special and the eggplant salad were very good.

The restaurant was right across the street from our Hotel Aya Sofya. The food variety is diverse and the staff very helpful in understanding your need and explaining the options. Has an outdoor area too with a natural cover on top (Grape vines possibly). The complimentary Apple Tea was "icing on the cake".

This restaurant was right across from our hotel. It is just on the fringe of the tourist area so no touting. Service and food are both good and it was very convenient. We went twice because it is much better than most of the standard kebab places.

they could do more with the nice courtyard, average food with a plain menu, expected more. The area is interesting in an old part of Sultanahmet with curving streets and little unexpected laneways so to come upon a restaurant like this is quite a bonus

We started off with some Hummus which was served with incredible hot and tasty bread. I had the vegetarian dish which was baked in a clay pot and was delicious, others had chicken and kabob which was good. Service was good and we were served complimentary Apple tea.

Very friendly welcome with a happy atmosphere. We stumbled upon this place on an evening walk about and ended up eating there every night of our 5 night stay. You might say thats not being very adventurous, but they had a varied menu so why go elsewhere when you know your going to get a good meal. The waiting staff... More

This restaurant was recommended by our nearby hotel. We were hesitant to try it at first because it was just an open restaurant by the road. But one night, we were so tired and didn't want to go far so we tried it. We saw what they served at other tables and they all looked delicious with big servings. We... More

This was a great find, close to our hotel and great price... The food was very good as well. No pressure restaurant which I really appreciated after a day at the Grand Bazaar. We went twice and enjoyed it both times.
