Nice lunch; great location

We were able to get an outside table at this busy restaurant on a bustling street just up from all the historical sites. Good food at reasonable prices and decent service.

very good food in a very cosy place on the street. The service is excellent and the employees very attentive. A good place to take small children and to have a good meal for a fair price.

We only discovered Masal on our last night in Istanbul - a shame, because we would certainly have gone back again and again. The food was excellent, the lemonade delicious, and prices were at least 10% lower than in the busier streets round about. The staff were friendly and welcoming without being pushy. Highly recommended.

Located in Sultanahmet, among many other restaurants, Masal is one of our favorites. No pushy waiters trying to lure you in, a great location with comfortable seating, a welcome breeze ( on a very hot day!) from fans set up around tables and service which is friendly and honest! We ordered two cold Efes ( the local beer) and were... More

Great selection of Turkish dishes well prepared and presented. Staff are very friendly and genuine in this family run business. The location in a quiet backstreet added to the charm and ambience of restaurant.

We had a group booking for lunch at this restaurant which was very enjoyable. The Restaurant is located in an attractive street, which has its own ambience, but the main advantage in the location is that it is so close to all the main historical attractions. When you feel a little weary then this is a good place to go!... More

Found this restaurant whilst walking in the area. Food reasonably priced, bread and dips complimentary. We sat outside as it was a lovely day. Very comfy chairs. Several tour groups arrived but ate downstairs inside so weren't a bother. Pizza was very nice so was mushroom soup.

This place had some great food for reasonable prices. Everything was very delicious and the service was top notch. The prices were between 15 and 40 Lyra for dishes. Most kebabs were around 20.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
