This rastaurant serves royal ottoman tastes. The ambiance is beautiful and the music is relaxing. The foods can taste strange or different for some of the visitors (the mixture of sweet, spicy and salty). The prices are high but it woths trying.

Turkish food isn't just about doner and kebap. If you want to know what real Ottoman food tastes like (without all that fusion, modern type of stuff) you need to come here. Below Kariye Mosque, this place offers best traditional food in Istanbul. Not cheap, but you'll get the best here.

An experiment, a research into the past of culinary practices, an experience with history and its interpretative contemporary creations. The idea is great and the potential is even grater. We were delighted in this restaurant, Turkish style. We had original dishes and desert. The restaurant is in a very pleasant garden , right next to Chora/Kariye museum. we combined our... More

Recommended by our host in Istanbul for the best authentic Ottoman cuisine. I was waiting to taste what the Sultan had for dinner in this very pretentious Hotel/Restaurant. During Ramadan we had to adhere to the Prix-fix menu, we were seated in a nice backyard, No liquor, fine. waiters not experienced at all don't know what they serve, no personable... More

My only regret is that there were only 3 of us, so we just simply couldn't order enough to taste as many things as we wanted. Amazing, deep delicious flavors using recipes, some 500 years old, served in the Palaces of the Ottoman empire, with flavors from Central Asia, Anatolia, Middle East and the Balkans. There are some things on... More

This restaurant is amazing! Serves Ottoman dishes prepared based on research from archive sultan menus. I had an Almond Soup (recipe from 1539) and a Goose Kebab (1539) and both were fantastic, flavours I have never experienced before. The menu itself is a fantastic read and makes you appreciate the effort the restaurant owners invested in researching these historic dishes.... More

The best restaurant in Istanbul, great dinner, probably the best in town with authentic cuisine in a wonderful setting, live traditional music played in a perfect volume, nice patio, good waiters; it's a MUST!!!

Just beside the Chora Church (a fantastic church with well preserved mosaics) in a residential out of the way place, you will find this sophisticated restaurant with great service. Sometimes you will find musicians playing traditional music. What distinguishes this place is their efforts to bring back old traditional recipes. Some are 500 years old ! There is an outdoor... The four of us had a unique and incredible meal at the Asitane. We dined inside on a cool evening, linen table clothes but a very relaxing atmosphere. Drawn from recipes found at the three main palace kitchens - Topkapi, Edirne, and Dolmabach - the menu itself is a historical tour de force. Staff were very familiar with the different... More

Asitane was one of the first restaurants we selected for our trip to Istanbul. We had read about Asitane in a few magazines and the idea of Ottoman Palace cuisine seemed like the perfect complement to more modern Turkish cuisine. (Asitane researched the dishes from palace menus). And we are very happy that we went. Overall, our dinner at Asitane... More
