It was wonderful to have an up-scale restaurant close to the Chora Church. Eating at the Asitane made the trip across the city doubly special. It all started with the wonderful bread and continued through scrumptious dessert. My husband and I were early, so we had most of the restaurant to ourselves. The staff and service went beyond excellent. It... More

...lamb shank with spinach puree... ...lamb shank with spinach puree... ...lamb shank with spinach puree... My son ordered the lamb shank with spinach puree. I wish I had ordered it too. It was the best lamb shank I've ever tasted and I'm quite a connoisseur of lamb shank. On the menu, it was described as being accompanied by a bed... More

This Ottoman cuisine restaurant was a highlight of our trip to Istanbul. Be sure and try the stuffed melon dish. The menu features dishes that were served in the kitches of royalty during the Ottoman reign: Almond soup, Hummus with cinnamon, lamb and and chicken stew with cumin. Delicious! Service was excellent and there is beautiful art work in the... More

Delicious and elegant. I had lunch at Asitane after visiting the nearby Chora Church. Since it was mid-afternoon and late for lunch, there were only a few other guests there, so I felt like I had the upscale restaurant almost all to myself. The servers were all very friendly and helpful. I had the green bean fritters as an appetizer--lightly... More

Although I can't describe myself as a food expert, I was almost forced to give a review of this restaurant because it was a long time since I had such a delightful culinary experience. The staff was very welcoming and attentive, the whole atmosphere is charming and, more importantly, the dishes were a taste surprise. Intriguing, well-balanced combination of ingredients... More

We had lunch here before our visit to the church. Service was great and attentive. The stuffed melon dish is no longer available and I tried the fish stuffed with meat. A bit too fishy. My family tried various meat dishes and were fine with them. Conclusion: if you are visiting the Chora church, do have a meal here. But... More

We dined at Asitane as we wanted to try Ottoman cuisine having read a lot about it. The menu was certainly interesting, dishes were completely unfamiliar to us but intriguing and everything we tried was very tasty and well presented. The main courses were mouth-watering. Service was very polite and discreet. The decor was upscale and overall atmosphere was nice,... More

I visited this restaurant a few years back and was impressed by the quality of the Ottoman food it served. I decided to come again on this other visit to Istanbul. The restaurant's cachet is still there, authentic and charming building and decor. Very chic interior and tables. We walked in, we were met by an unfriendly forced welcome then... More

The service and the food were excellent but the restaurant lacks the Ottoman charm one would expect from the cuisine. The food was good but there are better ottoman restaurants in Istanbul. the location is good if visiting Chora Church and the neighborhood which is deserted at night. The restaurant is more like an airport lounge and has really no... More
