We found this restaurant through tripadvisor while shopping in fevsi pasa street. The atmosphere and garden is really nice, you forget you are in a busy city. The service was great, and most importantly, food was really exquisite! It's a bit on the pricey side, but in my opinion it was worth it.

The food was great, but if you are not up to try something different then this place isn't for you. The food was unconventional but it was good.

Hidden in a residencial área, Asitane provided us one of the best dining experiences in Turkey. A great atmosphere resulted from the attentive service, table in a nice garden and Jazz and local instrumental tunes. The highlight was the delicious and delicate food. We loved the Stuffed Melon and Almond Soup. Asitane is a must go.

If there is one restaurant you should visit during your stay in Istanbul, look no further, this is the one! A divine garden dining environment with just the right lighting, trees and a beautiful manor. Perfect attentive service, always caring. Truly divine dishes which delighted our taste buds from the starters to the desert. A truly awesome bottle of wine... More

Asitane restaurant was really a very good experience...for sure the best food and service we had in Istanbul! We tried 2 of the signature dishes of the restaurant, the almond soup and the steamed mellon and they have been simply delicious. Sweet was also very good: the gullac with apple...a different version of tipical turkish "gullac" sweet

Went to Asitane on the back of its review in the Lonely Planet guide (which I'm becoming to rely on less and less these days). Don't often give poor reviews but obliged to do so in this case so that people know what they can expect (assuming my experience is typical) if tempted by the Lonely Planet review. Positives: location... More

We went for lunch after visiting the great Chora church. Our hotel desk make a 1 pm lunch reservation for us. They said it was required and it was a good idea. We took the tram from old town which was fun. The restaurant was very fancy and the meal was not cheap, but well worth it. Cost in USD... More

We went not knowing what to expect - only that they serve Ottoman cuisine enjoyed by the Sultans in the 16th century and that it was highly recommended by a friend who went there during his trip to Istanbul. But what a treat it was! Although we arrive at almost 10pm, the restaurant was full as it was the Ramadan... More

Staying in Fener & Balat

Neighborhood Profile
Fener & Balat
This sleepy and rather socially conservative area of Istanbul hosts a small but thriving Jewish community, the patriarchate of the Eastern Orthodox Church, and some of the most beautiful churches and Christian art in the world. Much of what’s most interesting to witness in Fener and Balat sits between the surviving ancient city walls of Constantinople and the serene shores of the Golden Horn. Despite the many splendid sights, historic attractions, stunning vistas, and warm Turkish welcome, the area remains largely unperturbed by the tourist trade that characterizes the atmosphere in nearby Sultanahmet and around the Grand Bazaar. Travelers that like to explore off the beaten track will reap big rewards for making the effort to visit this low-key part of town.
