We walked into this place by total coincidence, not knowing of its fame on tripadvisor. The staff recommended lamb shish which we had - it was very tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We've eaten in other, similar places in Istanbul after where the food was equally tasty, so I don't quite understand the hype Durumzade creates. For us, it... More

I'm a huge Anthony Bourdain fan, and this was featured on his show, which was his what brought us here. It's a couple blocks of Istiklal Street, close enough to be convenient but far away enough from the crowds. The place is small but has several tables outside across the street. And the food was excellent -- I had a... More

Their specialty are wraps – and really good ones at that! You can pick from a variety of meats, in double or single portions, rolled up nice and tight in a toasted crispy wrap (durum) bread with a tomato, parsley and onion salad. Seriously good stuff – my one single issue was that mine was sliiiiightly over done and so... More

We wee lucky that this place was very close to our hotel and happened to find it by chance. This is probably the best street food I tried in Istanbul. Try the mixed spicy kebab for some real flavour kicks.

Small little restaurant with big flavor! I like to stay in 5 star hotels but I love to eat at the TOP local eats (not tourist traps) You must visit! We had the open kebab In both mixed (lamb beef) and just lamb- It was absolutely delicious! You must eat here. It is clean, authentic and delicious! Also very cheap!... More

I heard about this place from Bourdain's show, No Reservations, and I'm so glad we got to try it. We only tried the kebab wraps, which were EPIC! The kebab itself is exceptionally well seasoned and a little bit spicy, and they put the bread on the meat as it grills so that it can soak up all the yummy... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighborhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
