Good choice for dining in the Sultanahmet part of Istanbul

Despite every instinct in my bones, we sat down to eat here (worn down by the constant restaurant touts on this street.) Tasteless mass produced food. Suspect mezze dips were from the supermarket. Even the tomatoes where tasteless (probably stored in the fridge). It is almost impossible to eat bad fresh tomato salad in Istanbul. But somehow here they managed... More

We stopped off in Siva bar as we were desperately seeking quite an obscure football match and they had access to a range of channels. After searching through for 15 minutes unsuccessfully they then arrived with a laptop to watch the game on. Thank you Siva bar! I can thoroughly recommend this bar for watching sports.

We've just eaten at this restaurant and I'm flummoxed as to how they've achieved their rating of 4-1/2. It's either been a bad night or the ratings don't stack up at all. Keep in mind we have eaten at other restaurants in Istanbul and have just finished a full day Istanbul back street food tour with an outstanding guide. So... More

The food was good not 5 star but delicious, they give you free Hummus and apple tea. My wife and I got one meal (Hagia Sofia meal) and we both got full.

This is a place where people from the locality eat. Good food St very good prices in an authentic local restaurant. Would recommend! You certainly will not be hungry leaving!

Two of us went for dinner after walking around I our first day in the city. We couldn't pass by the host who was inviting us in his old-city tourist-hawking way. The meal was quite tasty and I thought the price was reasonable. Have the kebab - it comes with an entertaining "show". Very nice.

We visited this restaurant a few times during our 4 day visit to Istanbul. The food we ordered was lovely every time, we could not fault any of it. The staff are really friendly, it is a great place to sit and relax and watch all the tourists pass by. Brilliant location.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
