Description: Welcome to Albura Kathisma, a unique and beautiful Cafe & Restaurant...
Welcome to Albura Kathisma, a unique and beautiful Cafe & Restaurant located in the heart of historic Istanbul. In easy walking-distance of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and Topkapi Palace, our garden enters the mysterious Byzantine Palace that once stood here. Opened in 2005 in an old Ottoman family house where we are now, we offer cozy indoor and spacious outdoor seating, friendly and courteous service and, of course, delicious food, served all year round. Thanks to our success, Albura Kathisma has grown in recent years, but our passion stays the same: to provide our customers with the perfect experience of eating out in Istanbul. With a menu covering Turkish and International cuisine, we cater for a range of diets and tastes. Specialties include seafood and salads, traditional Turkish, delicious desserts, and vegetarian dishes. Our well-educated chefs and waiting personnel are happy to offer advice on your menu choices and personal amendments to dishes if requested. In 2012 we extended and updated our kitchen, also adding traditional elements: a large stone oven where we bake our own delicious fresh bread daily, and a charcoal grill to cook our selection of Turkish kebabs from different regions of the country -- a "gastronomic tour" for the kebab connoisseur! Open daily all-year round, including New Year, we are always happy to cater for groups, families with children, couples, individuals and celebration parties. We are honoured with all of the tripadvisor reviews you have written or are going to write. We read them all and are grateful to receive your comments, ratings and suggestions.

Wow what a fantastic place

One of the best meals I have ever eaten, balli mahmudiye it was amazing. The flavours were exquisite. If you are in Istanbul you must visit. Once we had eaten we went to look round the hidden gem of a palace next door.

This restaurant was around the corner from our hotel and recommended by a staff member. As we were travelling with our 2 year-old, we were immediately pleased (and relieved) that a high chair could be provided. The wait staff was extremely sweet with our daughter - even picking her up and hugging her (which we loved) - and gracious and... More

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel. Yes, there may have been a kick back, but the food on our first night in Istanbul was very good and we would definitely eat there again. Very good service, nice touch with the (courtesy) pre-meal bread that was hot and soft and melted in the mouth. Good traditional turkish meal that was... More

You will find this place easily..... It's one of the few places not barking at you to come in. They don't need to. There were a lot of choices. Everything we had was great. Service was excellent.

It only took 7 minutes from the time we ordered to having our food served. We ordered ottoman cuisine. Mine was lamb dressed with a sweet sauce including nuts. It was obviously just heated. The meat (nothing like lamb) was so dry that I couldn't even chew it. When the waiter came to take away our plates, he asked if... More

We went to the Albura for New Year’s Eve and had a fabulous time. We have been to this restaurant many times and I must say the service and food is consistently good. Although we haven’t been for almost a year, we were received like long lost friends. The NYE menus was outstanding and the entertainment fun. Well done Albura... More

I visited Albura Kathisma based on recommendations from my hotel's staff to try out their Turkish cuisine. Unlike many other restaurants on Akbiyik Street, they do not hassle visitors who walk by - they even have signs in front of the restaurant saying "Hassle free zone." The staff made a great effort to ensure the right tone was set in... More

I heard that place's name many times and it was highly recommended. On the Sultanahmet area it's hard to find a place that which is nice as this one. Food is awesome with too many options, waiters are good, ambience is good. Very fast service with reasonable price and the owner is a nice man. Highly recommended!

I only entered this place because they had a "no harassing sign" and as a matter of fact THEY DID NOT HARASS the bypassers as the other annoying restaurants. To be in the touristy area I would highly recommend this restaurant. Food is good and prices standard. DO NOT MISS THE RUINS in the back.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
