Six of us went there for dinner. The restaurant looked pleasant enough, and no harassing by street hustlers seemed refreshing. the place is around the corner from the main strip, therefore not busy. that was the warning sign we ignored. half the items we ordered weren't available. when the food finally arrived it was just terrible. my kebab arrived with... I feel like we were in a completely different restaurant than all the other reviewers. Granted, this is not a gourmet 4-star experience. The food is simple, but overall very good. But what we found very enjoyable was the Happy Hour, which I think lasted the entire day! It's on a very lively street, so it's great for people watching... More

There are lots of choices for restaurants in the Sultanahmet area. Most are good to excellent this one was the worst of 10 we tried. The touting outside is annoying but acceptable inside it is not acceptable. The wine list was a choice of red or white (ok in regional villages not downtown) and they wanted my wine choice before we... Food was luke warm and rather tasteless. Music although not loud was horrid soppy Englısh songs. It ıs İstanbul and should have a Turkısh flavour to the atmosphere. Not recommended even for the stavıng.

Lured in by the "friendly" gentleman out front .... should have checked tripadvisor before ordering, similar story to tell as has been reported here several times. The 10 % Tax showed up on the bill just as mentioned by someone else here; my friends fish was "exchanged" for a "better" one without asking, wine was a not even close to... More

Very aggressive the treatment of the host. He offered us 20% of discount and it was a lie. Be careful!!

This is exactly the type of place to be careful of in Sultanahmet area. Guy in front calling in customers was nice and we gave in (only time on trip we did) and we should have kept walking. First if you have the seafood, the price is negotiable. This surprised me, when out front observing the fish selection negotiated the... More

Walked past this restaurant every day during our stay, and eventually gave in to the man on the door. We were going to order some food, but first thought we would have a drink. we ordered a beer and a Tia-Maria cofee. The beer came, and about ten minutes later the waiter came back and explained they had no Tia-Maria,... More

Stupidly seduced by the sales patter, we agreed to eat at this 'worse than average restaurant.' Sold a fish, that would be filetted and served with jumbo prawns, we had high expectations after an extremely good meal in the fish restaurant on the opposite cormer the evening before. However, the presentation didn't inspire, the service was slow and the fish... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
