After goıng around the streets ın thıs area were I was stayıng fınally decıded on thıs restaurant as prıce was better than some others. Ordered lamb shısh kebab, the balance of herbs and spıces perfect. Slıce of roast potatoe, rıce, fresh corn cernals and greens gave a good balance. Theır usual puffed up bread, resemblıng a lıttle zeppelın, compleatly dwarfıng... More

We got one of those big breads, a beer and a good glass of wine quickly. My wife's first choice from the menu wasn't available, but there was an acceptable alternative. We then waited - and waited. It is always galling to see diners who have ordered quite a time after you getting their main courses and after this had... More

Only in Istanbul for 3 nights but ate here twice so that in itself is a telling tale of this restaurant. The front of house guy was extremely welcoming without being too pushy. The service and the food on both evenings was extremely good. Having checked out the prices at the majority of restaurants on Bar Street this restaurant was... More

The waiter was sweet, but this place had bad food. The vegetable kabap was practically in inedible and the Sultan's favorite was not much better. Maybe this place is indicative of the quality of food in that super-touristy area or maybe the nice waiter makes people forget about the bad, overpriced food, but this place is not worth wasting a... Host was great. Game us pita bread with olive oil and pomegranate with olives. He gave us extra soft pita bread with yogurt sauce and was really entertaining throughout the dinner. Had a great time.

This restaurant was recommended to us by friends and to be honest is one of the best piece of advice we have ever had. We were served by Fatih who was really helpful and friendly, the food was outstanding and we had complementary drinks as it was me and my friend's birthday!Overhall a great experience. Truly recommended.

I'm very surprised by the negative comments of a recent reviewer, our experience 2 nights ago was much more positive. We found the staff very friendly, helpful and entertaining, creating a nice atmosphere among all the diners. 2 of our table had the chicken clay pot speciality, which comes flaming and they make a show of breaking the top off.... We had one week in Istanbul and ended up eating at the Aloran on four nights - I think that sums up how good it was. The staff, especially Fatih were extremely helpful and not at all pushy - unlike most of the other restaurants - and the food was excellent authentic Turkish cuisine, particularly the homemade bread with the... This was one of the biggest disappointments of my stay in Istanbul as my husband and I saved going here until our last night (based on the good Trip Advisor reviews)..but based on our experience I left the restaurant in a foul mood! When you arrive you get the usual spiel about "where are you from" and all the over... More

Delightful small restaurant conveniently located on quiet side street minutes from Hagia Sofia. Traditional and Ottoman food, including testi kebapi (dramatic presentation with diners breaking the terra cotta cooking vessel) plus flaming dishes. Reasonable and attentive service.
