Nice cheap gormet lunch

Wonderful fresh fish cheap for your money! Not not a dramatic setting, but fresh grilled fish all prepared great. We ate at lunch, and I wanted to go see how they grilled my shrimp. Fresh-to-grill.

This fish restaurant situated in the heart of Karakoy. I had lunch at this simple restaurant on one of the narrow back streets. I continously visit this place for about 40 years. This is the place to have fish lunch at the very best. It is a small restaurant with a couple of table downstairs and some more tables upstairs.... More

I've looked over the reviews of this restaurant, and I'm occasionally infuriated by some of the negative comments, and other times willing to imagine that there might be some inconsistencies encountered. But seriously, so many of the negative reviews contain an edge--either of fear about maybe getting ripped off (no foreign language menu, or any menu--come look at the cases!;... More

We had the most wonderful fish dinner here and highly recommend this spot. You enter through a somewhat rundown alley, take a small and unlikely looking elevator to the top, and emerge onto what looks like a Hollywood movie set. Everywhere you look are beautifully lit mosques, the Gallata Bridge, and boats on the Golden Horn and the Bosphorous. And... More

Be prepared, the restaurant looks like nothing - very simple and cramped on a dirty street and not easy to find. But the fish is worth going there. Get the fish soup which is very good and don't forget to squeeze on some lemon. We then ordered the Seabass skewers which were amazing: super fresh fish perfectly grilled. Cheap: 84... More

A friend and I chose a dinner at Tarihi Karaköy Balikcisi on our first visit to the city, following an Istanbul guide from The Guardian called "The 10 best fish restaurants in Istanbul." Positively surprised using a similar guide called "The 10 best kebab restaurants", as well as a Guardian guide on an Edinburgh trip earlier this year, we would... More

We went there during the unrest in 2013 so there were few tourists and the restaurant was literally empty. The chef immediately came to speak to us and led us to the kitchen where he showed us the different things he could make for us. We ended up asking him to serve whatever took his fancy and ended up having... More

The best thing about this restaurant is the view. We, in fact, happened to catch it during a summer storm and it was really impressive. However, when we arrived admitting to have no reservations, they gave us one of the side tables when in fact during the whole evening they only had another 3 tables occupied, and it would have...
