Maybe overrated...

My friends and I went to visit this restaurant by following a local guide's recommendation. However, I thought it is totally overrated. The staff treated us not as warm as other guests. And they hardly do not speak English. They didn't give us any menu in the beginning until their Manager leaded... read more

Had a great family dinner tonight. Food was fabulous and the one of the best fish dinners I have ever had. Sole kebabs were fabulous as were most of the mezes. Not for anyone who doesn't like any fish. Of course, incredible views too

This restaurant is off the beaten path and you wouldnt go if you wouldnt know it. It's quite fancy and food is good. We paid 750TRL for 7 people, eating moderately. It has a super terrace bar, ideal to go when the weather is good!

This fish restaurant situated in the heart of Karakoy. I had lunch at this simple restaurant on one of the narrow back streets. I continously visit this place for about 40 years. This is the place to have fish lunch at the very best. It is a small restaurant with a couple of table downstairs and some more tables upstairs.... More

I've looked over the reviews of this restaurant, and I'm occasionally infuriated by some of the negative comments, and other times willing to imagine that there might be some inconsistencies encountered. But seriously, so many of the negative reviews contain an edge--either of fear about maybe getting ripped off (no foreign language menu, or any menu--come look at the cases!;... More

We had the most wonderful fish dinner here and highly recommend this spot. You enter through a somewhat rundown alley, take a small and unlikely looking elevator to the top, and emerge onto what looks like a Hollywood movie set. Everywhere you look are beautifully lit mosques, the Gallata Bridge, and boats on the Golden Horn and the Bosphorous. And... More

Be prepared, the restaurant looks like nothing - very simple and cramped on a dirty street and not easy to find. But the fish is worth going there. Get the fish soup which is very good and don't forget to squeeze on some lemon. We then ordered the Seabass skewers which were amazing: super fresh fish perfectly grilled. Cheap: 84... More

Staying in Karakoy

Neighborhood Profile
Karakoy
Sitting pretty with an age-old air about it, Karakoy is situated on the European side of the Bosphorus at the mouth of the Golden Horn. Perhaps the city’s most historically significant area, it’s currently one of the most happening parts of town as well. Here street vendors and alfresco fish restaurants line the banks of the Horn where the views of major attractions across the water rival Karakoy’s own key attractions, such as the iconic 14th century Galata Tower and the Museum of Modern Art. A major hub for local and international waterborne traffic, Istanbul’s commercial and maritime heritage remains as relevant and evident as ever in Karakoy. Commuter ferries mingle with luxury cruise liners at its busy port, ensuring a continuously cosmopolitan flow of people..
