Simple, Good Food

A small unpretentious restaurant serving simple good food with enough choices for vegetarians. Learnt at the restaurant that there are lots of similarities between Indian and Turkish food. A small unpretentious restaurant serving simple good food with enough choices for vegetarians. Learnt at the restaurant that there are lots of similarities between Indian and Turkish food. Our stuffed parathas are Turkish Gozlemes, our kanji is the Turkish shalgam and they have exact equivalents of lassi and raita though I am unable to recall the turkish words for these... More

We have been to this restaurant, just off Taksim, about five times and make an effort to go every time we are in Istanbul. The food s amazing, freshly cooked and delicious. The fresh pastas an breads made by the woman sitting in the window are the best we have had. The meals are cheap and the staff are great.

Gozelems: Flat, pancake or pizza-like food filled with cheese or meet, meatballs and dumplings. All fresh, made on premises, good service and nice decor. Very much enjoyed, even by kids who don't stray far from burgers and pasta.

As with other reviewers, we were drawn in by the woman, sitting in the window, rolling and cooking flat breads on a traditional gozleme griddle. Since we had had a large lunch, we ordered lightly and the staff did not make us feel that we hadn't ordered enough. We ordered some hummus, yogurt, and of course, a sausage gozleme. They... More

Thanks to Ramazan for the worm welcome and great service. Even though the Istanbul is rich for delicious and various food, This is one of the nicest places in Istanbul to visit and REvisit. We are here already for 4th time in a row.

The restaurant itself has lovely decor with a friendly and attentive waitress. What let it down was the unfriendly man on the door and whilst the dish we had was very flavoursome, it was swimming in oil and salt.

Not far from the mall. Walked up a side street and there is a lady in the window making bread. This drew us in. Fantastic local fare where there were a few locals eating as well. Reasonably priced. We tried a little bit of quite a few dishes. Loved the beans. They added a little carrot to sweeten them up.... More

The Guzleme in the restaurant is something far more than delicious. Don't miss the rice pie too :) The Atmosphere is great it has nice chilling music and the personnel is very kind. The price is the lowest we've paid in our whole trip to Istanbul and it is by far the best place. We visited it every second evening!

We were walking around Taksim and stumbled across this lovely restaurant and thought we would try it as it looked traditional. There was a lady sat in the window making fresh bread and this was what we were served with some hummus (the best we have had so far in Istanbul!) The food was traditional and the menu explained what... More
