Cafe Rumist not only had great traditional Turkish food but also provided excellent service. It is a good place to hangout and have a nice and quiet evening. I would definitely go back to Rumist if I have the chance to visit Istanbul again. For a truly traditional Turkish dining experience, head to Rumist!

We came across this while exploring the area around Topkapi Palace and decided to stop for lunch. The cafe is pretty small ( 3 / 4 tables inside and a few more outside). The Menu was pretty exaustive with mostly local/Mediterranean dishes with a few vegetarian options. We ordered a few salads, pizza and Turkish Kebab (Clay hotpot). The Hotpot... More

I was in Istanbul for 5 days, and 3 of those days I came to eat here. The food is awesome, and always hot and delicious, and the staff speaks perfect English. They are all very enjoyable, and makes me want to come back even more. The tea they have is great, and I really can't get enough of it.... More

Mostly because it isn't a trap! The unassuming corner location belies the quality of the food that lies within. Surrounded by the usual array of hustling waiters, Rumist may not initially stand out from the pack. However once you sit down everything changes. The staff are attentive and eager to please, which can be seen in their recommendations of dishes... More

When you come to Istanbul your want to experience good culture and good times! This is the place to be! You get all of those things! This place is absolutely unbelievable. I was here about four years ago, and this time, the staff recognized me and the owner called me by name. I was utterly shocked! The food continues to be absolutely incredible, and this time I tried the hot pot clay kebab, which was absolutely fantastic. The apple tea is divine. This is a wonderful... More

What a great place. Super friendly, down to earth staff. Incredible food at extremely reasonable prices. The manager even gave me some of his personal shisha which was extremely potent. The meal included free bread, free apple tea and a discount on our meal and shisha simply for bringing a brochure. An all around great place and highly recommended.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
