great food and atmosphere

We went here twice on our trip to istanbul. It was definitely one of the best mid-priced restaurants we went to. There are various turkish dishes on the menu including combo platters for 2-3 people and a yummy milk shake that can't be found in other cafes! Both times all of our dishes were... read more

Found this café on TripAdvisor when we were looking for a place for morning coffee. Friendly waiter but no croissants or baklava despite menu (rice pudding offered instead!). Latte lukewarm, Turkish coffee provided without any glass of water. We were the only patrons apart from the waiter's friend. Didn't match previous glowing reviews.

I had read about this place from Tripadvisor and was happy to find it near my hotel. After all the praise my expectations were high. The food was nice but not super. The staff was very friendly. I ended up eating there twice, thanks to the easygoing athmosphere.

We stopped by the Cafe Rumist for dinner on our second day in Istanbul. The day had been very cold and windy but sitting in the outside area of this cafe heated by overhead heaters we enjoyed a very tasty meal. The menu has something for everyone's taste so you won't go away disappointed. We had complimentary bread with a... More

The gentlemen at Rumist cafe seemed like the typical restaurant hustlers, but they were more than happy to have a good conversation about football and traveling before even inviting you in. Once you are inside (or outside on the heated patio) they serve a delicious range Turkish dishes and you can round out the evening comfortably on a sofa with... More

We had a wonderful and very enjoyable dinner here. Everything we ordered was tasty and felt good to eat. And the dessert at the end was just yummy. Top marks. Worth the visit.
