Wonderful food, highly recommended

We visited this restaurant in the old city on our first visit to Istanbul and then twice more when we returned 12 days later. The food was outstanding, the service very friendly but professional. Even the house wine was of good quality (and we are fussy). The Harem Lamb dish was a real treat but so... read more

Fine turkish cuisine with en exelent service. We tried two kinds of chiken and the sauce was testy and original. Prices are around 35 tl for mains.

We ate fairly early, and it was Ramadan so the place was semi-deserted, but the service was excellent, the large-ish menu had all one's favorite foods and it's location in a small alley made it great for people watching.

We went to Amendros for lunch after finding it on Tripadvisor. We thought it looked a bit touristy, but TA is usually right. We tried the aubergine with cheese and walnuts, aubergine with chicken and the chef's special. We have all had a lot of turkish food, but these recipies were a bit different and really tasty! Professional and really... More

This was a pretty good tourist stop. Given the location, you don't really have much of a choice but to eat at a place like this. That being said, this was a good enough. The food is plated pretty and was not bad. The vegetables looked like they came from frozen mix, but the lamb was cooked well and falling... More

My husband and I ate here 5 days in a row for either lunch, dinner and some days both! Nowhere else could compare to the quality of the food and the excellent 5 star friendly service. My husband knows traditional Ottoman cuisine (his background) I am a nutritionist, personal trainer and also gluten intolerant. Between my husband and I we... More

This one truly deserves its TripAdvisor rating. Food was fairly quickly prepared (included pictures of guvec, ali imzan(?), and sultan chicken), and was very delicious. Meal started with turkish bread and olive oil dip, and ended by apple tea Staff was attentive, funy, communicative, and not very pushy. Typical meal was between 30 and 40 TL, so it is a... More

Nice ambiance on a charming street close to Haguia Sofia and the Cistern! Great local food, coffee and teas! We had fun "fortune telling from the Turkish coffee grinds".

Situated sandwiched between 2 other restaurants, both with louder and more insistent call in guys sits Amedros. We choose here from reviews, and weren't disappointed. A little different from the see it every where Turkish Cuisine, I had the delicious Ottoman Chicken...so so tasty I didn't want it to finish! Good staff, lovely presentation and beautiful food...in a city full... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
