I selected Amedros based on its review in the Rough Guide to Istanbul, and its proximity to my hotel (5 minutes walk). My dinner/evening there was so enjoyable, I decided to return again the following night! Take a look at their website, www.amedroscafe.com , it has lots of good pictures and complete menus (except for desserts?, which were also exceptional).... More

I would just like to thank all the staff at Amedros for their service and fine food during my stay in Istanbul last week. I must give a special mention to the charming Nino who was so attentive and friendly. I must say your restaurant serves the finest spaghetti bolognese I have ever tasted! I hope to return soon. One of the problems of travel in many places and especially in tourist areas is that I often feel that when people look at me they see a dollar sign with arms and legs. Restaurants in particular beckon you in aggressively only to produce very average fair. We were recommended Cafe Amedros by our hotel people and checked it on... More

This restaurant is in a very touristic area, and yet is remarkably different from all the restaurants around, for several reasons: 1. The food is actually very good! After being fairly disappointed by many restaurants, either for the lack of taste, originality or being really overpriced for the food and/or service quality, Amederos was a very pleasant surprise. 2. Kid... More

Amedros is the absolutely best place for good reliable food, friendly waiters a more pleasant evening would be hard to find. On our first time in Istanbul we went to a couple of other restaurants and then went to Amedros. It was so good there we never went anywhere else to eat for the rest of the holiday. Next time... The friendliness, politeness and helpfulness of the staff and the ambience in a pleasant side street all make this an excellent place to eat in the old town. It can be hard to find somewhere good in the area so once we found this restaurant we ate there every night. We were welcomed like old friends each time and nothing... More

Amedros is located about a five minute walk up Divan Yolu Caddasi, which is the main street the trams run on to/from Sultan Ahmet and the Blue Mosque/Hagia Sofia. Great location just off of the street up a side alley next to Faros. We were actually looking for a Lokantasi (workingman's canteen) when we passed by Amedros. One of their... More

Close to the Blue Mosque, the Basilica Cistern and the tram, this is a cut above some of the other restaurants and cafes in the area. The mezes were delightful, and the Ottoman Lamb one of the best dishes we tried in Istanbul. The staff are helpful and prices reasonable.
