Each year, for two or three time, I go in Istanbul, compulsorily I have to eat at Sultanahmet Fish House. The hospitality of Ottavio and his staff is perfect, the cooking is excellent, I suggest the fish at salt, when it arrive on the table is a spectacle, fire, hammer and chisel to break the salt. The balance between quality... More

A year ago we dined at this fish restaurant and I couldn't forget the wonderful taste of the food! This time around, we came back and I was pleased to see that the owner Mr.Sabir even remembered us! It was a wonderful surprise, he was extremely welcoming and I was happy to back. The staff is amazing, the menu had... More

We had a supper here and whilst summer is not the best time of year for fish in Istanbul, we had great quality food and seriously good service from the very professional restaurant manager to the really good young lady waitress. Strongly recommend a visit

Had the perfect meal, twice: a glass of good local, inexpensive house wine (white/red), delicious and fresh rocket salad, grilled fish (sea bream, bass). Four delightful young people run the place and they are full of charm and personality and are very efficient. And although this place is near the most heavily tourist-filled part of Istanbul, the ambience is relaxed... More

We had the salt baked sea bass, which was presented and cooked to perfection! Our waiter picked up that we were wheat free when we told him we didn't want bread. He came back with a gluten free option which we hadn't even asked for. That shows great perception in my books. Would recommend and return!

We chose this restaurant with Tripadvisor. We expected a better fish restaurant, when we read about it. To my taste they serve good food, but it is average. Service is very good. Sultanahmet Fish House is a nice small restaurant in a good place. We had been travelling in Turkey for a week and eaten lots of fish. This restaurant... More

Going as a couple, we were having a good time here, the service was good, polite and friendly. What annoyed me however was that we took the shared salt cooked fish dish, and as a "flourish" they poured flammable liquid on top and lit it. I dont want you to pour lighter fluid/sprits on my dinner, ok you may impress... More

We are seafood lovers and on our last evening in Istanbul we were hoping to for a seafood feast and this place certainly satisfied our hunger. We arrived late but the staff were very accommodating kept the kitchen open because we had a reservation. They were incredibly friendly and fun, the service was flawless and they certainly went out of... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
