I should have known not to go on a Sunday night (do they get in fresh fish on Sunday)? At 8pm, there were two other couples in the restaurant. We ordered humus and anchovies for an appetizer. I get much better humus at my local Safeway grocery store! The anchovies seemed fresh; I guess I’d expected more of a bite.... More

Out hotel manager recommended that we try this restaurant and we are happy that we did. Excellent food and cozy ambience. the hotel is a short walk away from the main tourist attractions. Do try the fried horse mackerel and the sautéed prawns! yum-o!

As the restaurant is located on the way to grand bazaar we have checked its menü during our return way to our hotel and decided to eat here. It has a great location thet everyone can reach by walking. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the most friendly of hosts. the menu is not extensive but... More

We wanted to try something cozy and nice and were delighted here. We made a meal of hummus, spicy tomato paste, aubergines, fried anchovies and calamari - all very delicious. Our young waiter was very helpful and not at all pushy; a welcome relief. Lovely and local.

Strolling in front of it we decided to make a reservation. The unassuming look inspired me. It was a good idea, they had to (gently) reject twice as many customers as they could accept. Their specialty is the sea bass cooked in a salt crust, simple recipe but perfectly done. Try also the local dishes, everything is very good!

The shrimp appetizer was okay but the main draw was the sea bass in salt. At 130 lira. it is not cheap and although billed as for two, it can easily be eaten by one person. These are all matters not of great import as the fish itself is cooked to perfection -- among the best fish meals I have... More

Since I wrote about the Fish House in 2012, we've been back several times and enjoyed it immensely. This time we were met by a different Mr Octay. He had slimmed down since last year, looked fit and ten years younger! We started with hummus and fried anchovies, both fine. Then I had sea bream, cooked to perfection. The accompanying... More

My husband, son and I had dinner here on the 1st January 2015! We were at first hesitant to go here because we imagined it was just another place only foreigners frequented, a "tourist trap" because of all the TripAdvisor reviews, but even though it was indeed mostly foreigners eating there when we went, it didn't matter because the fish... After two days in Istanbul and most meals being beef, chicken and a little lamb, we needed to have seafood! Two of us don't eat beef, and one doesn't eat both beef or lamb (total four of us). So we asked our tour guide to take us for seafood while on tour and here we came. The food was good... More

My wife, daughter and I had dinner at the Sultanahment Fish House just before TNew Year's 2015 based on Trip Advisor and the Hotel Neorion staff recommendation; both were right. We had a fried anchovy starter, and the salt encrusted fish for two for dinner. The fish cost 120 Turkish Lyra (~60 USD) and it easily fed 3 adults. Wait... More
