Matbah – Ottoman Palace CuisineThe Ottoman Empire has reigned over the huge lands for centuries and coexisted with many nations and cultures. By synthesizing all the acquainted cultures in order to produce a unique taste of its own, through the time, the Ottomans have enriched the Ottoman Cuisine. Several cuisines majorly deriving from Middle Asia, the Balkans, the Middle East and the Europe are the main contributors to the Ottoman Cuisine. This cuisine has prevailed mostly in the kitchens of the Ottoman Palace and therefore, the palace has turned out to be a unique place in order to grasp its tastes completely. Besides, we have noted all the utmost details regarding with the Ottoman-style cooking. After an exquisite exercise and efforts, the stunning recipes have been completed and adjoined to our selective menu. The Ottoman grandeur and hospitality prevailing at “Matbah” is welcoming exclusive guests and gourmets who do delight in the comfort of a vibrant ambiance at different seasons throughout the year. We are more than willing to serve your distinguished agency and special group with the selective menu which we prepared from the stunning recipes.Hope you will enjoy your meal at Matbah.

I've been to Matbah on our first night in Istanbul. Service was really good and the food was lovely, with some really awsome dishes like the pumpkin soup, which tasted like heaven. A great reastaurant, I definitely suggest to give it a go. Price are average.

Matbah has an excellent location near Hagia Sophia. If you are lucky, you can get a great scene watching Hagia Sophia. The menu is interesting, representing good samples from Ottoman cuisine. However, I am not really surprised by the taste, I have tried much better Ottoman cuisine samples before. Moreover, I did not like that the tables are very close... More

Visiting Istanbul with a good local friend, he decided to bring us in this restaurant which lived up to what he promised me: very special ottoman food, excellent 5 stars service and a great view on the surroundings. Unluckily the weather was not fantastic so we did not enjoy so much of this but all in all a great experience.... More

Very nice restaurant, nearby Hagia Sofia. The atmosphere and service was great. We stopped by this restaurant after reading reviews on Trip Advisor and we wanted to try something different as they serve Ottoman period dishes. I tried something called Stuffed Melon from the 15th century, it was a meat dish which tasted very good. Also tried the baklava for... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel and disappointingly it did not live up to our expectations. For what sounded like very interesting dishes, the tastes were quite bland and nothing out of the ordinary. I had the stuffed quince as main course and it was excessively sweet, to the point that I was able to eat less... More

Reading the other reviews I feel like we went to a different restaurant! The food was okay, nothing special and we had much better (and cheaper) options when in Istanbul. I felt this was a restaurant that tourists as there were no locals with the prices reflecting that. The service was efficient and the staff were very polite. They gave... More

A very good friend suggested we visit this restaurant after touring Topkapi Palace given the classic but unique Ottoman cuisine was resurrected by culinary historians who worked from inventories and paintings from Topkapi Palace to recreate dishes from the 15th and 16th centuries. The food is simply delicious, history or no history, but the attention to detail and authenticity is... More

On a cold rainy night in Istanbul we had trouble finding this place, but so glad we did. It's in a beautiful hotel, the staff is wonderful, and the food was excellent. We were seated next to a heater (good thing, I was freezing!), and started with a warm drink. Then we enjoyed the stuffed melon - the spices were... More
