Matbah – Ottoman Palace CuisineThe Ottoman Empire has reigned over the huge lands for centuries and coexisted with many nations and cultures. By synthesizing all the acquainted cultures in order to produce a unique taste of its own, through the time, the Ottomans have enriched the Ottoman Cuisine. Several cuisines majorly deriving from Middle Asia, the Balkans, the Middle East and the Europe are the main contributors to the Ottoman Cuisine. This cuisine has prevailed mostly in the kitchens of the Ottoman Palace and therefore, the palace has turned out to be a unique place in order to grasp its tastes completely. Besides, we have noted all the utmost details regarding with the Ottoman-style cooking. After an exquisite exercise and efforts, the stunning recipes have been completed and adjoined to our selective menu. The Ottoman grandeur and hospitality prevailing at “Matbah” is welcoming exclusive guests and gourmets who do delight in the comfort of a vibrant ambiance at different seasons throughout the year. We are more than willing to serve your distinguished agency and special group with the selective menu which we prepared from the stunning recipes.Hope you will enjoy your meal at Matbah.

Lovely terrace, nice cold Turkish white wine, very attentive service from a very welcoming staff. Food was good, too! A quiet peaceful oasis for lunch steps from the crowds at Aya Sofya.

Very attractive formal restaurant in a garden setting in the heart of old Istanbul. The exotic menu is based on the cuisine of the Sultans and is prepared to high standards with attractive presentation. The service is very good. Good wine list that can get pricey. One of the best restaurants we visited in Turkey. Recommended if you're looking for... More

We dined in this restaurant three of the four nights we were in Istanbul because the food, staff, and menu were so good. The menu changes regularly and the food is always intersting and well prepared. The roof and walls retract for a lovely al fresco dining experience in good weather. An ancient madrasse designed by the famous Ottoman architect,... More

very difficult to reach and when we did I expected to see a royal restaurant but it was a small sitting area with small menu and strange selection (unrelated to anything I have seen in the Turkish kitchen) that is over priced ... serving staff are very friendly unlike supervisor and the lady who seated us !!!

Literally a few metres from Hagia Sofia, located in a beautiful hotel, this restaurant was our best discovery on our third trip to Istanbul. Refined and inventive cuisine based on traditional Ottoman recipes beautifully presented. Wine list rather expensive but the house wine (Turkish) is excellent and affordable (both white and red). Lovely staff, and - nice touch - every... More

I have been in Istanbul for 3 days and eaten at Matbah twice. Yes, twice! The food and service are incredible and the menu changes constantly. The menu itself is beautiful, almost like an art book. Each menu option is an authentic Ottoman creation and is exquisitely prepared. I have tried the fish and lentil soups, the raviolis, the kebabs,... More

Don't let the fact that this is in a hotel put you off. The cuisine is very well thought out and delicious! Modernised old Ottoman dishes are really unique and interesting. We had a really tasty meal. Staff were also willing to give us half portions so we could try more of various things! Wonderful setting, service a little stuffy... More

Service is nice, enviroment is pretty. The food is nothing special and that is what it is all about. Price quality does not work out. The restaurant gets very good reviews on tripadvisor and lonely planet but we do not understand why. Food is average.Ok, perhaps Ottoman Original but not that different from the rest of the restaurants. The food... More
