Starters here are very generous and may not leave you enough room for one of the delicious main courses. Think of sharing. Excellent service. Our waiter Ali could not have done more for us.

This café was recommended by my hotel, and it was indeed very pleasant. The baked shrimp was a perfect choice for a cool day, and followed by a glass of a nice white wine, provided sustenance for the afternoon’s excursions. I was sorry that I did not have the opportunity to have dinner there.

Located in the heart of Sultanhamet, this restaurant offers excellent local cuisine at a good price. The choice of where you sit is a personal preference: 1) on the terrace with a view of the Blue Mosque; 2) outside where you can watch the world go around; 3) upstairs where you have views of the street and the local shops.... Located in the heart of Sultanhamet, this restaurant offers good Turkish typical dishes at a honest price. If you can, book a table to have dinner at their terrace. The terrace is quite small but with a couple of tables having a very nice view on the Blue Mosque. Last, but not least, the staff is friendly and smiley.

During a hot day of sightseeing, walking and taking in the Golden Horn of Istanbul we stumbled across this place very close to the Basilica Cistern / Blue Mosque / The Million / Hippodrome. We weren't approached by a pushy tout when we looked at the menu and it looked like a nice spot to have a quick lunch. We... More

After having very mediocre food all week while in Istanbul ( even using tripadvisor recommendations ) this place was a breathe of fresh air. My husband and I had both a chicken and a lamb dish that were fresh and very tasty, wine was excellent and the wait staff very attentive. Definitely a surprise in such a touristy area. I... More

Interesting local food and attentive staff. Helpful menus with photos of all the foods. We had delicious lamb, served in a ceramic pot, tasty falafel and traditional ravioli. But very slow to come and offputting bathrooms. Complimentary Turkish tea as we left! P.S. Fab swizzle sticks with a cocktail!!

A friend who we joined in Istanbul said this was the best restaurant in Sultanamet. When we had finished he said he was revising his opinion. It was ok but we have since had better value meals and better views.

Every evening the smartly dressed tout with sleek black ponytail invited us in and we refused. On our last evening we succumbed, and the famous lamb dish he prommised was, as promised, delicious. That was last year, on this trip we made Rumeli our first meal as we could not wait to sample the delicious lamb again. Succulent flavorful, melt... More
