Delights from the Whole of Turkey

The Rumeli was recommended to me by the Hotel Nomade across the street. In a quarter packed with restaurants, the Rumeli stands out for its unique and varied dishes from across Turkey. We saw reviews on TA and decided to give Rumeli a go. It definitely deserves 5 star rating as this was the best meal we had during our stay. Lamb shish was cooked to perfection and meat ravioli were delicious. The place has a great atmosphere and welcoming staff.

As said in earlier reviews. Its a nice place to have lunch. They don't pull u of of the street like they do in most of the restaurants in this city. They are very friendly and correct toward toerists. The food was simple but perfectly coocked and more than enough. In other words. PERFECT LOCAL FOOD. The vegetables where coocked... More

My wife and I loved the food here at Rumeli Cafe, they offered great outdoor seating and free wifi. We ordered a lamb dish and stuffed eggplant with beef pieces. Both were so flavourful and the coconut rice was a great addition. The bread like pita was so good dipped in the sauces. We would have given this place a... More

We went to Rumeli Cafe for dinner, it was wonderful, we tried different dishes and enjoyed all of them, dishes were fresh, colourful and tasty. The decor inside is great and there's a log fire for cooler evenings, the building it very old and full of character. There are also further dining rooms upstairs and the outside eating area. It's... The food was really delicious. The atmosphere is great. The service is not very good. And the prices of course are higher than normal - tourist prices which is ok. It is in the heart of Istanbul. :)

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
